CA-Jobtrac® Overview

CA-Jobtrac® is a superb, high-capacity Workload Management system that performs automatic job scheduling and job submission.  CA-Jobtrac ensures that jobs execute in the proper sequence and tracks their progress on OS/390 or on any platform managed by Unicenter TNG®.  Scheduling is quickly and easily accomplished through menu-driven or language-based scheduling definitions and without the labor-intensive effort needed to define processing calendars!  The optional CA-Jobtrac WorkStation provides centralized monitoring and control of your job scheduling and submission operations from a single Windows NT Workstation.

CA-Jobtrac®  provides the following benefits and solutions for today’s eBusiness environment:

  • An intelligent interface with the CA-Jobtrac Agents that you may use to post file creation and external job processing information across a multi-platform environment, including OS/390, UNIX, Windows NT, and other platforms.
  • Full compatibility with the Unicenter TNG SAP R/3 and PeopleSoft Options to ensure direct communication and feedback to the CA-Jobtrac Agent from the respective applications.
  • Robust automated production control solutions for traditional batch, parallel Sysplex, OS/390 UNIX services, or enterprise-wide Workload Management.
  • Complete integration with CA-11™, producing a unique solution that provides optimized recovery of Workload failures.
  • Multi-platform scheduling, tracking, and forecasting of processes by the powerhouse combination of CA-Jobtrac and Unicenter TNG, offering flexibility and choice as to the platform where work will be scheduled and/or run.
  • Highly detailed graphical flowcharting and realtime status monitoring of multiple platforms.
  • Intelligent control of your workload based on event dependencies such as data set triggering, message triggering, mutual exclusion, and user-defined resources.
  • JCL modification features that allow symbolic substitution, date card insertion, and JCL overrides to be performed and altered depending on the processing cycle.
  • REXX integration to permit REXX programs to be scheduled as jobs, used as dependencies to jobs, used as global dependencies, or run after a job terminates.  A REXX address environment enables a REXX program to instruct CA-Jobtrac to add, modify, or delete events on the CA-Jobtrac Checkpoint.
