Advantage VISION:Builder for z/OS 15.0
Beta Information

The Advantage VISION:Builder Development Team is currently moving forward with Advantage VISION:Builder for z/OS 15.0. Many of the enhancements in this release were requested by our user community and are extensions of already robust capabilities. Advantage VISION:Builder for z/OS version 15.0 retains all of the functionality of the previous release plus these new features.

• User Defined HTML Title Bar: You can now use the first report title line to provide the text for the HTML Title. This is the tag that the browser uses to format the title bar of the display window.



• Long Temporary/Array Field Names: You are now able to both define and use long names in ASL (Advanced Syntax Language) coding for both Temporary Fields and Array fields.



• Extended Field Types: This enhancement extends the size range of the following field types:
  
  

  Field Type	Current Range	New Range
  Character	1 to 255	1 to 32767
  Floating	4	4 or 8
  Fixed (Integer)	1 to 4	1 to 4, or 8
  VARCHAR	1 to 9900	1 to 32767

  
  In addition, this enhancement provides the unsigned property for the Packed Decimal and Integer field types.



• Full VARCHAR Type Field Updating: This enhancement now extends the ability for you to update variable length character (VARCHAR) field types when MOSAIC mode processing is active.



• PL/I Compatible VARCHAR Fields: You can now use PL/I Varchar field types in the same way as you use Advantage VISION:Builder VARCHAR field types. Advantage VISION:Builder version 15.0 adds 2 new field types to allow you to specify if the fields have either a 2-byte prefix or a trailing null character to be compatible with PL/I VARCHAR field types.

The Advantage VISION:Builder Beta Organizing Team is looking for beta sites to participate in the Beta Testing of the new 15.0 Release of Advantage VISION:Builder for z/OS. The Beta Testing Program gives you, our customers, the opportunity to test and provide feedback on the new release before it becomes Generally Available. You can install the new release and try it on one or more of your current Advantage VISION:Builder applications, to gain that comfort level of knowing that everything will function correctly as it does with the current release of the product. You can enhance your applications or create new applications with the new functionality. Our Development team will be highly responsive to any issues uncovered during the Beta Testing Period.
