WARNING: The upgrade of eIAM cannot be uninstalled, meaning that you cannot return to the previous version before the upgrade. It is highly recommended that you backup your machine or use third-party software that can allow you to return to a previous state.

To upgrade eIAM, you must first download Service Desk Patch QO87327 if you do not have any cumulative published Service Desk patches installed, and then install the latest version of eIAM located at the following FTP site:

ftp://ftp.ca.com/pub/iTech/eiam8.1/buildJan1119/

EIAM contains 2 different installers and you need to choose one of them depending on the database type that Unicenter Service Desk is using. Make sure the installer does an upgrade and it completes successfully.

  1. Service Desk Using Ingres Database:

    eIAMServerMDB_8.1_070111_win32.exe

  2. Service Desk Using SQL Server or Oracle Database:

    eIAMServer_8.1_070111_win32.exe

If you get a severe error message "Previous installation of Embedded IAM was detected. Please uninstall it before running the new install of Embedded IAM.", then most likely you are using the wrong installer. Try the other one.

If eIAM was installed on a standalone remote machine via the Remote Components Wizard, then copy the corresponding file from above to the remote machine and do the upgrade there.
