RE: Licensing Change for Unicenter AutoSys Job Management Sybase Bundled

Dear Valued Customer:

Effective June 14, 2006, CA will discontinue reselling the Sybase ASE database license with the Unicenter AutoSys Job Management (Unicenter AutoSys JM) product. CA has packaged and resold Sybase ASE software with the Unicenter AutoSys JM product at an additional cost as a convenience to our customers. CA has also provided the maintenance and support services for this specific database. Due to rising support costs and availability of an embedded version of the Ingres database, CA is ceasing to provide the Sybase ASE licenses directly to our customers. The Unicenter AutoSys JM product will continue to support the Sybase ASE database as a repository for the product along with databases from Oracle and Microsoft. During CA World 2004 we announced these intentions as part of the Unicenter AutoSys JM r11 strategy, and that with the next release of Unicenter AutoSys JM, version r11, CA will also provide Ingres as an embedded database repository.

As we transition to this new model, current customers using the Unicenter AutoSys JM product will continue to receive maintenance and support for both products through CA Technical Support. However, customers requiring additional Unicenter AutoSys JM servers or remote agents on Sybase will be required to purchase the database license directly from Sybase. Due to this change in the purchasing process, Sybase will require customers to convert their current license acquired with the Unicenter AutoSys JM to a Sybase enterprise license, receiving support directly from Sybase. This license conversion does not require a customer to re-install software. It is simply a re-registering of your current Sybase ASE license. During the conversion process Sybase will require customers to purchase licenses under the Sybase license agreement. Sybase will provide specific credits for licenses previously purchased from CA with Unicenter AutoSys JM.

This change in our process will only impact current Unicenter AutoSys JM/Sybase customers who require additional units of product to support their job scheduling environment today or customers who will be renewing maintenance and support. In the future with the release of Unicenter AutoSys JM version r11 customers will be required to transition their Sybase ASE license when upgrading to this release. During the r11 upgrade process customers may also choose to convert to another database repository such as Ingres, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.

If you need additional information, please contact your local account representative. If you are outside of North America, please call your local account representative or the local CA office.

We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with you. Your success is very important to us.
