Unicenter Network and Systems Management
Job Management Option r11
is Generally Available

CA is pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of Unicenter Network and Systems Management Job Management Option (Unicenter NSM JM Option) r11 on Microsoft Windows and Linux.

New features for Unicenter NSM JM Option r11 include the following:

  • Less-disruptive autoscan. The New Day Autoscan can now be done in two stages with less impact. A pre-scan can be configured to start the New Day Autoscan without impairing job dispatching. This results in the actual New Day Autoscan completing faster, with less impact to the actual scheduling of your applications.
  • Authorized manager nodes. This introduces a new option that allows the user to control which Job Management Option Managers are authorized to submit jobs to a particular Job Management Option agent. If it is not set (by default), all Job Management Option Managers are allowed to submit jobs to the agent.
  • Cycle count precedence. This introduces a new option to control the way cyclic jobs behave. This option is used to determine the number of iterations when a job is demanded at a time following the new-day autoscan. If the value is set to Y (by default), the cycle count will take precedence over the normal calculated cycle iterations. The cyclic jobs will be scheduled up to the cycle count iterations or until the new-day autoscan time. If the value is set to N, cyclic jobs will be scheduled up to the time of the last normal calculated cycle iteration, as though the job was present at the time of the new-day autoscan.
  • Unicenter NSM Cluster Management. Integration with Unicenter NSM High Availability Service to allow Unicenter NSM JM Option to install in a clustered environment and use clustering services, regardless of the vendor.
  • New database support. Unicenter NSM JM Option now uses embedded Ingres database as its repository on Linux and Microsoft Windows.
  • Enhanced dependencies. Static predecessors can now be added on an ad-hoc basis. This enhancement allows a job's predecessors to be added to the tracking file even when the corresponding Jobset/Job predecessor is not part of today's workload. As a result, the corresponding Jobset/Job will wait for predecessors even though they are not part of the tracking file.
  • Unicenter Service Desk integration. Integration with Unicenter Service Desk will allow Unicenter NSM JM Option to automatically open a service desk request when a job ends in a failed state.
