Subject: Priority Enhancement Announcement for Unicenter Network and Systems Management

Today we are pleased to announce the general availability of the Unicenter NSM Reduced Size Install Image for Event Agent r11.1 (RSII).

This priority enhancement provides the capability to derive a subset image consisting of only the Event Agent, plus any of its dependencies from a Unicenter NSM r11.1 master image for Windows, which can then be used to deploy the Event Agent.

RSII supports remote deployment with pre-configured installation response files and the capability for customers to create their own customized response files, and has a full integration to Unicenter Software Delivery (USD).

RSII for Event Agent:

  • Includes a create utility that customers can run against NSM r11.1 for Windows master images including the latest NSM r11.1 Cumulative image available for download from SupportConnect.

  • Is fully supported by CA Technical Support, as are generated images.

  • Will create the image in user defined target directory.

  • Provides a default response file that drives an Event Agent installation for Windows.

  • Provides the ability to register RSII_EA packages with USD. Native platform registration support will be provided for Windows (i.e. Windows Event Agent package registered to Windows USD Manager). Cross platform registration support (i.e. to a Linux USD Manager) will not be supported.

For additional RSII functionality, please review the RSII User Guide.

A copy of the RSII can be obtained via SupportConnect, either by downloading Published Solution QO88101, or by downloading Unicenter NSM release 11.1 CUM (detailed in PIB QI86797) which is a cumulative image containing patches, including the RSII patch.

We believe that our ongoing research and development, technical support, education, and maintenance programs can help you succeed in using IT to achieve your organizational goals. We look forward to working with you as you implement RSII to optimize your IT operations.

Thank you for your business.

Sincerely,

The CA Unicenter Network and Systems Management Product Team
