Announcement regarding IPNET data collection
using SLM 2.0 and 3.0

Unicenter Service Level Management experienced an intermittent problem collecting the IPNET metric during the following observed time period:

12/17/02 23:53 to 12/18/02 18:15.

NOTE: During further testing, CA has identified that there are other sporadic times where a single data point may be missed due to the same situation that caused this problem.

Symptoms:

  • Reports generated for that time period will not contain data for ipnet metric. Any report with a longer time band that includes that period will show as a system outage for that period.

  • In the smmcollect.log, you will either see a -3 value being returned for the ipnet data collections or you will not see any ipnet data being collected.

Platforms affected: Windows NT, Windows 2000

CA has published the following fixes to resolve this problem:

  • Unicenter TNG Service Level Management Option 2.0 - QO31917

  • Unicenter Service Level Management 3.0 - QO31918

CA support highly recommends applying the above fixes to resolve this problem.
