INSTRUCTIONS For VMS Platform

Note: The installation of the license update for OpenVMS systems requires UNZIP.EXE.

UNZIP.EXE can be found on the OpenVMS freeware CD distributed by HP, (the freeware CD comes with any OpenVMS system distribution) or can be down-loaded from the HP web site.

  1. Download the appropriate ZIP file to your Windows system.

    CALIC-116-20040607-010.ZIP * English
    CALICJA-116-20040607-010.ZIP * Japanese

    **Note: In the Japanese version, all the tools are in English, but all messages from the Licensing shareable image are in Japanese. Requires COMPAQ JVMS.


  2. Transfer the appropriate file, CALIC-116-20040607-010.ZIP or CALICJA-116-20040607-010.ZIP, from the Windows system to the target OpenVMS system using FTP in binary mode:
    Example:
    ftp> my_vms_system
    ftp> binary
    ftp> put CALIC-116-20040607-010.ZIP
    ftp> bye

  3. On the target VMS system stop all CA products using their individual shutdown procedures.

    Customers running the following products may execute
    SYS$STARTUP:CAPOLY$SHUTDOWN.COM
    in order to stop most CA products if they have used
    SYS$STARTUP:CAPOLY$SET_STARTUP_PARAMS.COM
    to configure their systems:

    V2.4 or V2.4.2 of Unicenter TNG for OpenVMS
    V2.4 of the Enterprise Edition products (WatchIT, ScheduleIT, CommandIT, AdviseIT)
    Unicenter Console Management for OpenVMS V3.0
    Unicenter Job Management for OpenVMS V3.0

    The Unicenter TNG for OpenVMS agents and Agentworks services must be shutdown using their individual shutdown procedures:
    System Agent - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$AGENT_VMS_SHUTDOWN.COM
    Log Agent - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$AGENT_LOG_SHUTDOWN.COM
    Oracle Agent - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$AGENT_ORACLE_SHUTDOWN.COM
    Agentworks Services - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$SERVICES_SHUTDOWN.COM


  4. Unzip (see note below) the new kit, e.g. on Alpha:

    $ unzip :== $ disk:[directory]unzip-alpha.exe
    $ unzip "-V" CALIC-116-20040607-010.ZIP


  5. Install the new license kit:

    $ @sys$update:vmsinstal CALIC-116-20040607-010 disk:[distribution.directory]


  6. Restart all CA products using their individual startup procedures.

    Customers running the following products may execute
    @SYS$STARTUP:CAPOLY$STARTUP.COM
    if they have used SYS$STARTUP:CAPOLY$SET_STARTUP_PARAMS.COM to configure their systems:

    V2.4 or V2.4.2 of Unicenter TNG for OpenVMS
    V2.4 of the Enterprise Edition products (WatchIT, ScheduleIT, CommandIT, AdviseIT)
    Unicenter Console Management for OpenVMS V3.0
    Unicenter Job Management for OpenVMS V3.0

    Unicenter TNG for OpenVMS agents must also restarted using their individual startup procedures:
    System Agent - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$AGENT_VMS_STARTUP.COM
    Log Agent - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$AGENT_LOG_STARTUP.COM
    Oracle Agent - SYS$STARTUP:AWS$AGENT_ORACLE_STARTUP.COM
    Agentworks Services - automatically started by all of the above


  7. Note: The CALIC-116-20040607-010 licensing software will send out-of-compliance messages to OPCOM when an out-of-compliance condition exists.
