Product: eTrust Antivirus
Version: 7
OS: WIN/NT, WIN2000

Q: The installation of eTrust AV 7.0 works fine but when the user tries to register the product the eTrust AV License Verification screen does not appear.

A: This happens when the CA Licensing component setup has not completed on the system. The setup fails if the user is using any version below Windows NT SP6 as the license installation uses Microsoft Installer Technology version 2.0. In some cases, the setup fails on Windows 2000 or Windows NT SP6 machines if certain driver files which are required by the installation fail to install properly.

Please upgrade to Internet Explorer 4.0. Then, download the licensing package here.

The new licensing package contains all the files and the installable required to address the above problems. The installable works in the same way as the original installation file, except that it uses MSI version 1.2 which is compatible with the older versions of Windows NT OS (SP4 and upwards). Note that the MSI 1.2 does not have to be installed on Windows 2000 machines. The installation also takes care of the driver installation failure which is reported on the Windows 2000 or Windows NT SP6 machines.

Product: BrightStor ARCserve Backup
Version: 9.0
OS: WIN/NT, WIN2000

Q: When I go to the Help>About screen in my BAB9 installation, the License and Register buttons are greyed out. Why is this?

A: A few situations have been reported in which the installation of BAB9 did not update a previously installed CA Licensing system. In order to correct this problem, you may manually run the CA License installer from your installation media:
On the BAB9 CD, go to X:\IntelNT\LICENSE\1033\ENT and execute setup.exe, this will launch the CA License installer. After installation is complete, the License and Register buttons should now be available in the Help>About Menu. You may need to exit and reenter the software for the change to take effect.

Product: BrightStor ARCserve Backup
Version: 9.0
OS: WIN/NT, WIN2000, WINXP

Q: When installing BrightStor ARCserve Backup Server, I am prompted to enter license keys for a number of Client Agents that I did not select during install, why is this?

A: In BAB9, all the Client Agents are license checked centrally by the Backup Server. If you have selected the BrightStor ARCserve Backup Server for installation, the dialog will prompt you to enter a license for the following components:

- BrightStor Backup Client Agent for Unix
- BrightStor Backup Client Agent for Windows
- BrightStor Backup Client Agent for Netware
- BrightStor Backup Client Agent for Linux

If you have not purchased a license for any of these Client Agents you do not need to enter a license for them. License keys may be entered at a later date in the Help>About box of the ARCserve Manager or BAOF Console.

Product: BrightStor ARCserve Backup
Version: 9.0
OS: WIN/NT, WIN2000, WINXP

Q: How do I update the license of my ARCserve 9 product from a Trial installation to a full installation?

A: If you selected to install your product with the 30 day trial license, you may update your license file with a full product key at any time:

For any Options/Agents that have a GUI (such as the manager), in the Help>About screen you will have the option to update/review product license and registration status. Clicking on the License button will give the user the opportunity to add additional license key(s) for installed products.

For any agents or options that are installed on a machine but have no graphical interface, users can use the CAlicnse.exe utility located in the License directory to input their new key(s) and update their license file.

Version: 7.0
OS: WIN/NT, WIN2000

Q: I am receiving a 1WCC license warning associated with my ARCserve 2000 Client Agent. Why is this?

A: This could have been caused by applying TNG ASO maintenance to an ARCserve 2000 product. Please review the ARCserve support technical infodoc 18161, available here. Please contact your product's technical support group for any assistance or guidance with this or any product maintenance.

Q: I have installed and successfully registered my ARCserve2000 product, but I continue to receive license warnings in my logs and event viewer for component 3IMV.

A: Component 3IMV is the InoculateIT 4.53 Workgroup Edition, which is bundled with ARCserve2000 and will install by default in a standard setup. If you wish to use the InoculateIT, you will need to RegisterIT in the same manner as the ARCserve2000, a registration ID for InoculateIT was provided with your product. If you do not wish to use the InoculateIT product, you may uninstall it- this will stop the license notifications.

Q: Is there a way to install the licensing files and ca_lic directory to a location other than the root of the c:\ drive? What if my machine has no C:\ drive?

A: In order to alter the installation path of the CA license subsystem, a modified product installation is required. When a CA product is installed, the installation routine calls the silent.bat file, which performs an unattended installation of the CA license subsystem, using the install.rsp response file for its input. In order to alter the default installation path of the license runtime and its associated files, the install.rsp file must be modified to reflect the desired installation paths prior to product installation.

Follow the following steps to alter the installation location of the CA license subsystem for a clean product installation:

1) Copy the product installation CD to a temporary directory on your hard drive.

2) Locate the install.rsp file and remove the read-only attribute. (The exact location of the install.rsp file on the install media will vary from product to product, but generally may be found in a common directory called 'license' or 'licfiles'. Use the find feature to locate the file in the temporary directory, if necessary)

3) Open the install.rsp file with an ascii text editor, such as notepad, and edit all the installation paths under the following headings to the desired path for your installation:

[destination_path]

[caapps_path]

4) Run the product setup as normal, it will now use the edited values for the installation path of the CA license runtime and common applications.

Please note that subsequent installations of other CA products or options would need to be performed with this modified installation method, otherwise, they will by default install the license system and its associated registry values to the c:\ca_lic directory path again.

Q: What is the difference between my RegisterIT customer id and my support site id?

A: RegisterIT customer id is an 8-digit number that identifies your organization (or datacenter location for larger enterprises) in our product registration database; this is the number under which the history of your workgroup/advanced edition product registrations will be recorded. You would use this number when registering additional products via RegisterIT.

Your site id number is a 6- or 7-digit number that identifies your organization in our support call tracking database. You would use this number when contacting CA support, if it is your first time contacting support, a client assistant will create a site id number for your organization.

Q: How do I determine the 'appropriate license program' to properly license my product?

A: The 'appropriate license program' is determined by the product code; the leading number of the component code indicates what family of CA product is involved:

CodeProduct family and appropriate license program
1xxxTNG and its options use the Unicenter TNG LicenseIT update CD
2xxxEnterprise Edition products use the LicenseIT software
3xxxWorkgroup/Advanced Edition products use the RegisterIT wizard

Q: How can I make a backup of my license file so that I do not need to run the RegisterIT wizard to reinstall on the same machine?

A: Yes. The license file used by all of CA's Workgroup-, Advanced-, and Enterprise- Edition products is the ca.olf, which resides in the ca_lic directory. After completing the RegisterIT wizard, backup the ca.olf to a floppy disk and label it with the machine's name. In event of a disaster, restore the backed up ca.olf to the ca_lic directory of the rebuilt machine. Note that the ca.olf is machine specific, and would not be valid on another piece of hardware- you would need to re-register the product on a new machine.

Q: When I run RegisterIT, I cannot find the product that I am trying to Register on the drop down menu.

A: When a CA Workgroup- or Advanced- Edition product is installed, it should update RegisterIT's product.dat file in the ca_lic directory with the options available in the product. It is possible that this file was read-only at the time of installation, and therefore was not updated. In order to get around this, you can manually append the contents of the product.dat from your installation media to the product.dat in the c:\ca_lic directory using an ASCII editor such as notepad, or alternatively, you could run regit.exe directly from your installation media.

Q: I am receiving the following notification in my log files, what does this mean?

The license found is inadequate for the Hardware Unit rating of this machine. You might have upgraded the machine and if so, please rerun the appropriate license program to properly license your product.

A: This warning indicates that the CA product, identified by its 4-byte component code, is licensed in the ca.olf license file, but the hardware model licensed does not match the current detected model. This is usually the result of one of two scenarios: 1) hardware configurations changed on machines running CA software and updated license keys were not installed -or- 2) inaccurate information was provided when initially licensing CA software. In order to rectify these errors, a new LRF reflecting the correct current hardware configuration will be required for generation of the proper license file. Please refer to the LicenseIT How-To or contact TLC for further assistance.

Q: After transferring my olf file from my Windows to Unix machine, I receive error messages that the license file is invalid.

A: Since the ca.olf is an ASCII text file, a common issue is that many clients will download or receive their olf file via email on a Windows machine and then use FTP to transfer the file to their target UNIX machine in binary mode, often invalidating the olf file format. In order to prevent this, transfer the file in ASCII FTP mode; In order to rectify this formatting corruption once on the UNIX machine, open the file with an ASCII text editor, repair the file format by restoring the carriage returns and re-save as ca.olf.

Q: When I discover my Windows 2000 machines with LicenseIT, they are identified as Windows NT, Windows 2000 is not an available option in the list of classes. Is this correct?

A: Machines discovered through use of the LicenseIT discovery engine that are running Windows 2000 and have an SNMP agent installed on them will be classified as either Windows NT Server (if Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server is installed) or Windows NT if Windows 2000 Professional Edition is installed), this is because the SNMP Agent running on Windows 2000 reports back the same SNMP OID as Windows NT does.

Within LicenseIT you should continue to use the Windows NT Server class to represent machines installed with Windows 2000 Server or Advanced Server and Windows NT to represent machines installed with Windows 2000 Professional Edition.

Q: How do I transmit my license request file to Computer Associates?

A: There are 2 methods by which your LRF can be delivered to Computer Associates TLC License Desk: through FTP or Email.

To FTP your license request file use the commands below:
Ftp ftp.licensedesk.ca.com
enter as the userid
enter as the password
cd upload
put
close

To email your license request file create email (does not require a subject) and attach the *.CAE file (as binary) to the body of the email. Do *NOT* include any extraneous information in the body of the email. The email address is tlc@licensedesk.ca.com. If your email client does not support long file names, you can rename the file to an 8.3 format. Please use only alphanumeric characters for a filename. The file extension *MUST* remain as is. The License Desk email account will only process attachments with extension of .CAE or .LRF

Q: What are the .lrf and .cae files created by LicenseIT?

A: The LicenseIT application will produce two kinds of files at the completion of LRF generation. One file with extension of *.LRF and the second file with extension of *.CAE. These two files are the same! The *.LRF file is the license request file provided in an ASCII format. It is saved as reference should the need arise to review machine and product selections. The second file, *.CAE is the ASCII based *.LRF file zipped and encrypted using the site ID password --provided under the OLF Settings options. Either file can be sent to TLC@LICENSEDESK.ca.com, but it is strongly advised for security purposes the *.CAE file be sent.

Every LRF request generates a unique filename consisting of the word 'LicRqst', the site ID and a count number from 1 to 999. So for example, if your site ID is 456789 and you are generating your first license request file, the files generated by LicenseIT would be: LicRqst0456789001.LRF & LicRqst0456789001.CAE

Q: What if my machine has multiple NIC cards?

A: In a multiple NIC (or failover NIC) configuration, each MAC address needs to be recorded in your license file, so that whichever NIC is active at any point is licensed. In order to request an olf file for multiple MAC addresses on one machine, prepare an email with the your site id, the machine's Host Name, Caminfo/Camtype Detected Model Output, a listing of the MAC addresses associated with the machine, and the requested products/components to be licensed and send it to help@licensedesk.ca.com.

Please specify that this is a single piece of hardware with a multiple NIC configuration, and a TLC representative will create your License Request on your behalf using the information provided.

Q: What if I cannot find the product I am trying to license in the listing of available products during LRF creation?

A: You will need to update your product and CPU dat files. On startup, LicenseIT allows you to automatically download and update the hardware and product files via FTP. You may also elect to E-mail an auto reply account at Computer Associates to request updated copies of the hardware and product files. You should address your E-mail cpu@licensedesk.ca.com. Once this E-mail is received at Computer Associates a reply will be sent back to you containing the two files. Also included will be instructions detailing the steps necessary to implement the updated files.

Q: I try and start up LicenseIT, but I receive the following error:

Signon failed. You may already have an active version of LicenseIT running on your machine or the LicenseIT DB Server is not active. LRT_ConnectAndSignOn Fails! rc=28

A: This message indicates that there is either a previous instance of LicenseIT already open (you may only run one instance at a time), or the NT service required for LicenseIT to connect to its local repository is not started. LicenseIT requires the LicenseIT DB Server service to be active in order to connect to its local repository. Check your services applet to determine if the LicenseIT DB Server service is active, and if it is not, start it. Once the service is active, restart LicenseIT.

Version: 1.0
OS: OS/390, MVS, VSE, Z/OS

Q: We are planning a Disaster Recovery exercise at an off-site location, how can I obtain license codes for my CA software for this purpose?

A: Contact Total License Care, they will be able to provide the applicable temporary keys to bring up and test your software on another machine. TLC has created a DR key request form, available at http://supportconnectw.ca.com/public/ca_common_docs/tlckeyreg/tlcdrtest.asp, in which you may request the applicable testing keys for your upcoming test online. Required information includes your CA Site ID, the IPL date of your test, and a listing of any non-LMP products involved in the test.

04/08/02

Product: LMP
Version: 1.0
OS: OS/390, MVS, VSE, Z/OS

Q: We are planning a processor upgrade, our machine will remain a 9672 and the CPU serial number will remain the same, but the model will change from an r26 to an r46. Will I need new LMP codes?

A: Yes. LMP codes are both model and serial specific, should either of these variables change, you will require new keys. The earlier TLC is notified of the impending change, the better. The product supplements attached to the current machine will need to be moved to the new model in our database before permanent keys will generate for the new machine, this could potentially take some time as all contracts will need to be verified that the new machine fits within the established licensing limits.

04/08/02

Product: LMP
Version: 1.0
OS: OS/390, MVS, VSE, Z/OS

Q: Do I need to IPL in order to apply LMP or EKG codes?

A: No. You may simply run cas9 in order to refresh keys in memory.

It is suggested that the client create an additional cas9 proc (called cas9keys in this example).

The client will dd dummy out the following dds:

//PARMLIB  DD

//AUTOCMDS DD

This will leave only the //KEYS DD.

1) If an EKG code is being applied, add as the first uncommented line in the keys member i.e.

            EKG(xxxxxxxx)

All other lmp keys, or ekg codes should be commented out or deleted.

2) If an LMP key(s), add anywhere in the keys member.

If replacing an older key(s), please delete it from the member or comment it out

At this point, s cas9keys (newly created proc)...

The ekg code (or keys) will be refreshed in storage.
An ipl is also a possibility (to refresh the keys in memory), as a last resort...

Q: What is the Format of an LMP code?

A:
PROD(PP) DATE(DDMMMYY) CPU(TTTT-MMMM/SSSSSS) LMPCODE(KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK)

Where:
  • pp = the two character product code for any given ca lmp software solution, this code agrees with the product already in use by the cairim initialization parameters for the solution's non-ca lmp version.
  • DDMMMYY = the ca lmp key expiration date.
  • TTTT-MMMM = the cpu type and model (for example: 3090-600) on which the ca lmp software solution is to run. If the cpu type and/or model require less than 4 characters, blank spaces are inserted for the unused characters.
  • SSSSSS = the serial number of the cpu on which the the ca lmp software solution is to run.
  • KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK = the execution key needed to run the ca lmp software solution. This ca lmp execution key is provided on the key certificate shipped with each ca lmp software solution. Below is an example of a control card for the ca lmp execution software parameter:
Prod(so) date(01jan92) cpu(3090-600 /370623) lmpcode(52h2k06130z7rzd6) This example uses ca-sort to represent the ca-solution, the ca lmp execution value is invalid And provided as an example only!

Q: Are there any special considerations when applying a temporary Autosys time key over an existing permanent key?

A: If a client is running a permanent Autosys/time key on their system, and they request a temporary Autosys/time key to use on behalf of the time, server, client and/or xpert environments, their permanent time key will be overwritten and unrecoverable. To avoid this, we recommend that the client print out their gatekeeper report and keep a file copy of their original permanent key. Once the temporary key expires, they can simply re-enter the permanent key that they already received.

A: On a command line, do a DSPHDWRSC TYPE(*AHW). This will display all the hardware resources. Your feature code will be the System Processor Card.

Alternatively: The new iSeries and AS/400e machines have an additional level called the "Interactive Feature". What was previously called the feature code is now referred to as the "Processor Feature". e.g. a 720-2062 (Model 720, Feature Code 2062) is now a 720-2062-1501 (Model 720, Processor Feature 2062, Interactive Feature 1501).

AS/400 Model, Serial, Processor Feature codes can be determined by displaying system values on these machines:

DSPSYSVAL QMODEL for AS/400 Model

DSPSYSVAL QSRLNBR for Serial Number

DSPSYSVAL QPRCFEAT for Processor Feature Code

The Interactive Feature determines the Interactive performance of the new iSeries and AS/400e models

01/16/03

Product: Unicenter TNG
Version: 2.2, 2.4, 3.0

Q: Do I need to recycle any of the CA Services after applying the TNG LicenseIT Update?

A: Yes. After applying the patch recycle the services of any running products to ensure the latest license DLL is loaded into memory.

Product: Unicenter TNG
Version: 2.2, 2.4
OS: Windows

Q: I downloaded the License Update for my Windows platform, but I receive the following error when running setupx86.exe in the message log:
Commencing CA License Update.
Locating CA licensing platform file.
Executing CA licensing update, Please standby...
Create process failed. Unable to start installation program. Update aborted. Probable causes: Missing Installation Files.

A: This error is usually because the update is not being properly applied. Specifically, as is outlined in step 1 of the installation instructions, the files must first be extracted to a temporary directory before executing the update. Setupx86.exe cannot be executed from within the zip file, the files must be extracted first.

Extracting the files first will actually produce 2 directories- (temp path)\setupx86 and (temp path)\intel_win32_en, the files must be in this same relative path in order for the update to be properly applied by executing the setupx86.exe in the (temp path)\setupx86 folder.

Product: Unicenter TNG
Version: 2.2, 2.4
OS: Windows, Unix, VMS

Q: I am running TNG version 2.2, do I need to submit an LRF for licensing?

A: For clients running a version of TNG 2.2 or 2.4, there is no longer a need to submit an LRF. TNG licensing for versions 2.2 and 2.4 is accomplished by applying the TNG LicenseIT update CD. If you have not yet obtained this CD, please read the announcement and order the CD or download the update here. TNG 3.0 has the license update embedded on the installation media, and should require no action for licensing until 2007.

Product: Unicenter TNG
Version: 2.2, 2.4
OS: Windows, Unix, VMS

Q: Why is CA requiring us to go through this license update again? I thought that licensing was turned off when I applied the previous license update CD?

A: The previous update CD gave our clients the ability to disable licensing checks for an extended period of time, but not indefinitely. This new CD will again remove the burden from our clients of having to go through the process of obtaining a license file for each machine in their environment where they have a TNG component or option installed. Instead, applying this update will extend the period for which licensing is suppressed until January 2, 2007.

Q: I am having difficulty with Realia II Workbench for Windows, it does not accept my serial number from the box.

A: There is a known issue with the key (serial number) for a few boxes of Realia II Workbench for Windows, the code on the box is printed in the wrong format.

During install, you will be prompted for a serial number in two fields, separated by a dash.

On the box, it is in a format of (7 digits - 5 digits)
The correct way to input is (6 digits - 6 digits)

Product: CA-TSOPLUS
Version: 5.1
OS: OS/390, Z/OS

Q: We are upgrading our CPU and want to know if there is anything that is required in TSOPLUS?

A: TSOPLUS is authorized base on CPU serial number and model. The authorization code can be found in the PLUSINIT deck. Product: CA Licensing (lic98)
Version: 1.60
OS: UNIX and Linux

Q: Where does CA Licensing now install by default?

A: On all Unix and Linux systems, lic98 v1.59 and lower will install into either the /ca_lic directory or the /opt/CA/ca_lic directory. Also created by the installations is a public link to the lic98.so library in either /usr/local/Calib or /opt/CA/Calib which all CA applications reference to find the license runtime.

Because of recently updated (and finalized) installation standards for CA shared components, licensing v1.60 installs by default into the /opt/CA/SharedComponents/ca_lic directory. Also created by the installation is a public link to the lic98.so in /opt/CA/SharedComponents/lib. For backward compatibility, if the old ca_lic directories are present at the time of installation they will now become links to this new ca_lic directory like so: /ca_lic -> /opt/CA/SharedComponents/ca_lic and /opt/CA/ca_lic -> /opt/CA/SharedComponents/ca_lic.

The following issue may occur when downgrading licensing:

If v1.60 of licensing is installed on a computer with no previous licensing, it will install into /opt/CA/SharedComponents/ca_lic as noted. If, however, an earlier version of licensing is then installed, this old version will continue installing to the old location, thus resulting in two ca_lic directories on the computer. To fix the problem, simply run the mergecalic script found in the opt/CA/SharedComponents/ca_lic directory or install the latest posted version of licensing from the supportconnect.ca.com site. This will merge the two directories into the new directory.

07/01/04

Product: CA Licensing (lic98)
Version: 1.60
OS: Windows

Q: Why does CA licensing sometimes install into a Program Files subfolder now and not C:\CA_LIC as it always has?

A: The latest CA licensing installation conforms to the CA installation standard by installing into the C:\Program Files\CA\SharedComponents\CA_LIC folder if no previous C:\CA_LIC licensing folder is found on a machine. If, however, a C:\CA_LIC folder already exists on the machine, the new licensing will continue installing into that folder. Licensing packages that follow the installation standard are versions 1.52 and higher.

The following issue may occur when downgrading licensing:
If v1.52 or higher of licensing is installed on a computer with no previous licensing installed on it, then an earlier version of licensing is installed (downgrade of licensing), the earlier version will automatically install into the C:\CA_LIC folder, thus creating two CA_LIC folders (C:\CA_LIC and C:\Program Files\CA\SharedComponents\CA_LIC ). To fix the problem, simply execute the mergecalic.exe found in the C:\Program Files\CA\SharedComponents\CA_LIC folder or install the latest posted version of licensing from the supportconnect.ca.com site. This will "merge" the two folders into C:\Program Files\CA\SharedComponents\CA_LIC. Over time, C:\Program Files\CA\SharedComponents\CA_LIC will become the folder where licensing is managed.

Product: Ingres II
Version: 2.6
OS: Windows, Unix, VMS

Q: Can I apply my Ingres II 2.6 ALP keys to machines in my environment running Ingres II 2.0 or 2.5?

A: No, the ALP license keys require an updated licensing runtime, which is installed or upgraded when version 2.6 is installed. Installing ALP keys on systems without the updated runtime will result in the following message being logged to the lic98.log:
(Date / Time) - Computer Associates Licensing -(Component Code)- The license found is inadequate for the Hardware Unit rating of this machine. You might have upgraded the machine and if so, please rerun the appropriate license program to properly license your product.

In order to avoid this scenario, a license runtime update patch must be applied, please contact TLC for assistance in this situation, runtime update patches are available for most supported operating systems.

Product: CCC/Harvest
Version: 5
OS: Windows, Unix

Q: I am using CCC/Harvest 5.x, and am receiving license warnings in my lic98.log regarding the number of users connected. I am fairly certain that we are operating within our license limitations, what could cause this error.

A: There is a file in the Harvest home directory, hbroker.arg, that may need to be edited. Specifically, there are 2 entries: maxserver and minserver that should be set to match the licensed number of users. Please contact support for assistance in making these changes, or any other product maintenance.

- Computer Associates Licensing -- The license found is inadequate for the Hardware Unit rating of this machine. You might have upgraded the machine and if so, please rerun the appropriate license program to properly license your product

A: Most often this is due to an invalid or corrupt lic98.cap file: open the lic98.cap file with a text editor, the file should be comprised of a listing of detected model types in the format of:
SYS (detectedmodel) (tier) (checksum)

  • If the file is improperly formatted, you may copy the lic98.cap from your installation source or download the latest data files at our support website

  • If the lic98.cap file does not exist, you may not have a current ALP license runtime installed. Please contact TLC for assistance

  • If the lic98.cap exists and appears to be valid, please contact TLC for assistance.

Version: 1.0
OS: WINDOWS, UNIX, VMS

Q: What is ALP?

A: ALP is the Automated License Program, the newest phase of CA licensing and order fulfillment. Rather than requiring clients to use a client-side application to identify hardware eligible to run CA software and request/create the appropriate license file, ALP products are shipped with a printed certificate representing their license file (based upon the product and hardware information recorded in our license database), and are also given the opportunity to obtain their license keys electronically via our support web site.

06/20/02 Product: Ingres II
Version: 2.6
OS: WINDOWS, UNIX, VMS

Q: Will I need to submit an Ingres II upgrade LRF when upgrading to version 2.6?

A: No. If you already have a valid ca.olf license file in place on a machine for an existing IngresII installation, no new key will be required. For new orders/installations, version 2.6 is the first IngresII version to feature the ALP licensing scheme. An ALP product key certificate will accompany your order, or you may obtain your license key online at our support site. There is no need for an LRF for Ingres II 2.6 at all.

Q: What is the correct format of an ALP key?

A: An example of an ALP Execution Key is displayed below:

ID_1 3991FFEF "Customer Name" Technical Contact Name (As recorded in our database)

ID_2 E4A19DB8 "Company Name" Company Name

ID_3 C2F2E617 "00000000" CA Site ID Number

ID_4 9550AD9 "email@domain.com" Technical Contact Email (As recorded in our database)

SERVER CAI 7152

DAEMON CAI_lic_d/usr/bin

FEATURE 0 CAI_lic_d 1.000 20-APR-2000 0 0CA4D081978DD1BD5C76 "(MODEL) (COMPONENT)" ANY # 0000000-000

The actual encrypted execution Key is line 7, which is referred to as the "FEATURE" line, the ID and Server and Daemon lines are header lines that should only appear once in the file, at the beginning. Additional instances of these lines can invalidate you license file.

If you are having problems with your ALP key, check the following:

Verify there are no carriage returns interrupting the FEATURE lines in the ca.olf file.

Verify there are no blank lines in between the FEATURE lines in the ca.olf file.

Verify that the "ID" lines of the newly generated ALP Execution Key replace any pre-existing "ID" lines in the olf.ca file.

Verify that the name of the OLF is ca.olf and does not have an extra extension in the name; e.g. ca.olf.txt or ca.olf.olf (This is most common on Windows systems with hide known file extensions enabled in explorer)
