Advantage Repository for z/OS and OS/390 Webstation Option Version 1.0 Beta Participants Needed

The Webstation Option version 1.0 Beta Program

Advantage Repository for z/OS and OS/390 Webstation option is currently Beta. Webstation Option is CA's next generation web reporting tool which will replace the existing Data Shopper Option. We are actively looking for interested sites to beta test this exciting new product. For an overview of the features of this new interface and information on how to enroll in the program, please read below.

What's New

Search Capability: The "Finder" feature provides the ability to easily search for information in the repository. Pre-defined search objects can be customized by the Repository administrator to provide intuitive search paths for the end user.

Categorization: The "Topics" feature allows you to organize metadata into logical groups -by department, geographical region, or technology, for example.

Impact Analysis: Using the "Subordinate Search" feature, end users can perform impact analysis using Search objects from a row in a result set. For example, users may wish to know what data elements are used in a Cobol program. Or what logical entities are related to a physical table in an ERwin model.

Update Capability: End users can now directly update text data via the web. Administrators can limit update capability to select users using the Repository security features.

Printing and Reporting: Users can print reports directly from the web. Standard reports are printable versions of web-based result sets.

Customization for Various User Groups: The Repository Administrator can create profiles for various user groups that contain Search Objects and Topics appropriate for that group. For instance, business users can be presented with a different display than technical users.

User-Based Preferences: Users can further customize the profiles set up by the Administrator using the "Preferences" features. With this feature, users choose for themselves which information they want to view.

Security: Through security, the Repository Administrator has the ability to secure the list of search objects and topics that a user can see through an external security package such as Top secret, ACF2 and RACF. Single sign-on security can also be managed via these tools. (Note: This feature will be included in Phase 2 of the Beta program.)
