Announcing CA Security Command Center r8 SP2

On behalf of CA, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that CA Security Command Center r8 SP2 is now available.

Upgrade Considerations

Before upgrading your CA Security Command Center r8 environment, please learn about the new SP2 features that change administration procedures within the product components. For example, the all-new web-based Audit Policy Manager provides a segregation of duties feature that changes the way Audit policies are activated, distributed, and managed. The Win32-based Audit Policy Manager, Audit Viewer, and Audit Reporter are replaced with a new, unified web-based interface.

For these and other reasons, you should carefully consider whether you will benefit from the new features before upgrading to SP2. The ReadMe, Upgrade Considerations, and Release Summary provide important feature descriptions and planning information that help you make an informed upgrade decision.

If you decide that your existing Security Command Center environment will not benefit from the new SP2 features, then you are not required to upgrade to SP2. CA Technical Support will continue to actively support all r8-based versions of CA Security Command Center through at least October 2009.

If you decide that your existing Security Command Center environment will benefit from the new features, then we suggest installing SP2 in a test environment to trial the new SP2 features before upgrading your production environment. There is no mechanism to restore to your previous version after upgrading to SP2. Please refer to the Upgrade Considerations documentation for important upgrade planning information.

Other Considerations

Current Security Command Center r1.0 customers should begin planning to upgrade, as a drop support announcement for all pre-r8 versions will be released shortly. Those who wish to migrate the Audit Policy Manager component to a Solaris platform should upgrade to SP2. Those who wish to maintain Audit server components on Windows platforms should upgrade to SP1-CR2. Please note that the Security Command Center Server component supports only Windows platforms with MS-SQL Server 2000.
