CA Dynam® Family for z/VSE r7.1 Beta Program
We are pleased to invite you to participate in the CA Dynam Family for z/VSE r7.1 Beta program. Your participation offers you the ability to validate this update release in your own environment, allowing you to give us feedback on product enhancements, quality, and the beta program.

CA Dynam Family for z/VSE is a collection of software products designed to provide a comprehensive file management facility for your data center. CA Dynam for z/VSE is comprised of three products that work together to efficiently manage tape and disk files and provide file independence.

CA Dynam/T Tape Management for VSE
CA Dynam/T helps you manage your tape library in the following ways:
  • Automatically controlling tape data set usage and retention
  • Preventing active tape data sets from being scratched
  • Controlling remote site tape movement and retention
CA Dynam/D Disk Management for VSE
CA Dynam/D efficiently manages your disk data sets in the following ways:
  • Allocating primary and secondary disk space
  • Permitting automatic space release
  • Protecting disk data sets from overlapping and deleting active files
CA Dynam/FI File Independence for VSE
CA Dynam/FI allows files to be switched from most sequential media to either tape or disk in the following ways:
  • Dynamically reblocking files for specified devices
  • Dynamically changing record formats
  • Simulating unit-record to multi-record device types, such as card reader to tape
What's New in r7.1:
  • Support for IBM's hardware based tape encryption:
Four new densities have been added to CA Dynam/T which when specified will trigger CA Dynam/T to find an available encryption capable drive, make the assignment and then pass the appropriate KEKL information to VSE. KEKL information for a dataset can now be defined in the CA Dynam catalog.
  • Enhancements to CA Dynam/D's disk file maintenance utility program DYNUTIL:
    • Support for an EXCLUDE parameter on the DYNUTIL DUMP, REORG and RESTORE commands to allow the ability to selectively exclude certain datasets from being restored or dumped.
    • Allow multi-extent files to be reorganized as single extent files.
    • Allow a file to be restored to a specific volume within a pool.
