Support for FakeTape and Enhancement to VTAPE Support
BrightStor® CA-Dynam®/T Tape Management for VSE has been enhanced to:
  • Provide support to enable BrightStor CA-Dynam/T to mount FakeTape volumes automatically when running both BrightStor CA-Dynam/T and FakeTape on a Flex-ES system.
  • Provide support to enable BrightStor CA-Dynam/T to mount VTAPE volumes automatically by issuing the appropriate VTAPE START and STOP commands. This enhancement takes advantage of a new interface introduced by IBM in z/VSE 3.1.

Making Copies of BrightStor® CA-EPIC® for VSE Offload Backup Tapes for Offsite Storage
TSIDOFL is an excellent tool for BrightStor CA-EPIC clients who wish to backup their sequential disk files to tape. It uses a subset of BrightStor® CA-FAVER®2 VSAM Data Protection for VSE technology for efficient file transfer.

One efficiency measure involves the use of oversize blocks for tape I/O. The block size used is too large to be processed by standard VSE access methods, and that creates problems for clients who wish to copy their backup tapes for offsite storage.

Click here to find out how to create such a copy using BrightStor CA-EPIC.

How to Reduce CPU Overhead and Retrieve Unused Storage
Are you looking to reduce CPU overhead and retrieve unused storage with practically no additional overhead or user intervention? The winning team of BrightStor CA-FAVER2 VSAM Data Protection for VSE and BrightStor® CA-VSAMAID® VSAM Tools for VSE may be your best bet. Read how.
