Recent Service Packs Available
The following service packs are now Generally Available (GA):
  • CA VM:Manager® VM Management Suite r2.8 Genlevel 0512 SP7, including the following products (also available separately).
  • eTrust® VM:Secure® r2.7 Genlevel 0512 SP3. For current information about VM:Secure upgrade considerations, click here.
  • eTrust® VM:Director® r2.7 Genlevel 0512 SP3. For current information about VM:Director upgrade considerations, click here.
  • Unicenter® VM:Spool® r1.6 Genlevel 0512 SP2. For current information about VM:Spool upgrade considerations, click here.
  • Unicenter® V/Seg Plus r1.5A Genlevel 0512 SP2. For current information about V/Seg Plus upgrade considerations, click here.

General Information
VM:Manager® Products That Require Updates for z/VM 5.2.0
The following products require upgrades to current service packs or additional maintenance to fully support z/VM 5.2.0.

eTrust® VM:Secure® and eTrust® VM:Director® must be upgraded to r2.7 genlevel 0512 service pack 3. This service pack contains support for z/VM 5.2.0 including:
  • New Replacement Text Decks for the CP component
  • CRYMEASURE option on the OPTION directory statement
  • The following New System Management APIs:
    • Directory_Manager_Local_Tag_Define
    • Directory_Manager_Local_Tag_Set
    • Directory_Manager_Local_Tag_Query
    • Directory_Manager_Search
    • Image_SCSI_Characteristics_Define
    • Image_SCSI_Characteristics_Query
    • Asynchronous_Notification_Enable
    • Asynchronous_Notification_Disable
    • Asynchronous_Notification_Query
Unicenter® VM:Spool® must be upgraded to r1.6 genlevel 0512 service pack 2.

Unicenter® VM:Spool® V/SEG-Plus feature must be upgraded to r1.5A genlevel 0512 service pack 2.

BrightStor® VM:Backup® requires a zap to prevent message VMBMSC0081T from being issued at initialization.
  • QO75142 - 423-Prevent VMBMSC0081T during initialization on z/VM 5.2.0
This zap only applies to VM:Backup r3.4 genlevel 0506 service pack 01. If you are not already running r3.4, you must upgrade.

Unicenter® VM:Batch® r1.5B genlevel 0212 service pack requires a zap so VM:Batch can perform job monitoring.
  • QO75140 - 154-z/VM 5.2.0, Fix INDICATE USER EXP parsing
VM:Backup® HiDRO r2.7D genlevel 0504 service pack 02 requires a zap so message SYBCTI009I can be correctly displayed.
  • QO75141 - 946-Update OS Literal for z/VM 5.2.0
Automated Installation and Maintenance (AIM) r7.2a genlevel 0512 includes support for installation of products under z/VM 5.2.0. This release of AIM is included with VM:Manager r2.8 genlevel 0512 service pack SP7.

Prepare VM:Spool® for an Upgrade to z/VM 5.1.0 or z/VM 5.2.0
Be prepared for upgrading z/VM by knowing what your options are for using SPTAPE and SPXTAPE, and what genlevel of Unicenter® VM:Spool® is acceptable for specific releases of z/VM. Click here for details.
