BrightStor® CA-Dynam®/T Tape Management for VM Beta
As a current user of BrightStor CA-Dynam/T Tape Management for VM, you have an opportunity to participate in the Beta Program for BrightStor CA-Dynam/T for VM and explore the newest capabilities in tape management in your z/VM environment.

BrightStor CA-Dynam/T for VM is a tape library management solution designed to provide single-point control of tape processing and tape dataset management, providing a means of establishing and enforcing processing standards for tape datasets.

BrightStor CA-Dynam/T Tape Management for VM r3 from Computer Associates Int'l., Inc. provides:
  • Unchained Multi-File Dataset Support
  • Support for 3590E and 3590H Devices
  • Support for 3592 Devices

You can download these service packs electronically from ca.com/supportconnect/. Customers in North America can also order these service packs by calling 1-800-841-8743. For customers outside North America, please contact your local CA Support Center to determine service pack availability.

Alert for BrightStor® VM:Backup® Customers Who Use DASDTape Media in Their Backups
In April 2005, a BrightStor VM:Backup problem was identified which can result in the inability to restore data from a DASDtape file. This was due to a bug in BrightStor VM:Backup that corrupts the File Origin Pointer of a DASDtape file leaving the file damaged and thus the data unrecoverable.

A Product Error Alert (PEA), QI66693, was published as a hyper on 04/15/2005 notifying our customers of this. Please refer to that PEA or contact your local Computer Associates Customer Support organization for more information.

This bug has been resolved with BrightStor VM:Backup apars QO67785, QO67786, and QO67787.

Hyper Notifications
Are you aware of the latest hyper APARs?

Hyper solutions are those that are considered critical for the proper operation of your CA product. You can become more proactive with product maintenance by requesting automatic notification of hyper solutions for any or all of your licensed products. To register, log into ca.com/supportconnect/ and select "Hyper Subscriptions," found on the left side of the screen. You will receive an email notification of any future hyper solutions published for the products you selected within 24 hours of publication.

To review past hyper solutions, choose "Published Solutions" and check the Hyper Solutions Only box.
