Support Discontinued for Older Product Releases of Advantage™ VISION:Results®
and Advantage™ VISION:Sixty™
At Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), we are continually looking to improve our software, support, and services to best meet your business needs. To more effectively support the latest computing environments and those of the future, and to provide you with optimal support for current product releases, we are discontinuing support on some older releases.

Advantage VISION:Results Release 5.0 and Advantage VISION:Sixty Release 11.0 are our latest releases of these products and are currently available. These releases have many exciting new features and enhancements. Just a few of these are:

Lilian date support
Report Writer enhancements
VSAM extended format support

When we advised you of the General Availability of each of the above products, we also stated that we would be discontinuing support on December 31, 2003, for all releases prior to 5.0 for Advantage VISION:Results and 11.0 for Advantage VISION:Sixty. If you haven't ordered your new release(s) yet, please do so as soon as possible.

Introducing the New Output Formats in Advantage™ VISION:Inform® Release 4.0
Release 4.0 of Advantage VISION:Inform for IMS and CICS provides new output formats for the query writer. These new output formats prepare report data for input to other tools, processes, and platforms in an industry-standard format. The new formats are:

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)
CSV format (Comma Separated Variable, or comma-delimited)
Tab-delimited
Plain text (.txt file)

The new output formats are available with the 3270 platform and the Batch simulator. Users specify the new output formats in either of two ways: internally with new query language statement keywords or externally when submitting a query for processing. Advantage™ VISION:Inquiry® Version 6.5 Partial Matching Feature for IF Selection
Version 6.5 is a newly announced version of the Advantage VISION:Inquiry product. In this version, new vocabularies and keywords are added to extend the functionality of the conditional selection in queries.

The new partial matching feature of the Advantage VISION:Inquiry allows users to build IF statements to select values similar to a character string.

In this article, you will learn about the feature's new keywords, their functions and their capabilities, with sample queries. Migration issues for existing Advantage VISION:Inquiry users will also be discussed.

Sending Mainframe Reports by Email Using Advantage™ Intraccess™ Web Edition
After a query is run by Advantage Intraccess Web Edition, the reports generated by the mainframe are sent to Advantage Intraccess through TCP/IP. This has the great advantage of no longer requiring emulators and HLLAPI interfaces. The reports, when received, are manipulated and stored on the local server. These reports can then be exported in a number of ways. One of the more exciting ways is to email a report to one or more associates as soon as the report is received.

This article demonstrates how easily users, with little or no knowledge of mainframe technology, can access their corporate information and then send it to all parts of the world with a few clicks of a mouse.
