On behalf of the CA team, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly announce updated releases and maintenance for our products.

Today, we are pleased to announce the availability of CA Database Management Solutions r11.5 SP3 for IMS for z/OS. With this new service pack, we are pleased to continue to offer an alternative to physical distribution. You can download this service pack, the Product Documentation, and the Product Information Packet from SupportConnectSM. Logon to supportconnect.ca.com and access the Products Link under the Downloads heading on the left side of the page to get started. Please note that if you have multiple IMS products licensed, you only need to select and download one product as the package is the same for each product. If you are installing PTF maintenance, you can download the service pack bucket by accessing the r11.5 SP3 links located on supportconnectw.ca.com/public/ims/infodocs/ims-usePEdata-r115.asp.

End of Life Announcement for CA Data Compressor™ for DB2 for z/OS

Subject: End of Life Announcement for Unicenter Data Compressor for DB2 for z/OS

CA is continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. In order to focus our development efforts and to help our customer base achieve their strategic business initiatives, we are investing our resources in new technology and software and will be dropping support for Unicenter Data Compressor for DB2 for z/OS. This means Unicenter Data Compressor for DB2 for z/OS will no longer be enhanced and that maintenance and technical support will be discontinued within the next 12 months. However, CA will honor any contractual requirements to sustain support on defined products.

We will be contacting you with more detailed information as well as the confirmed End of Life date for Unicenter Data Compressor for DB2 for z/OS. Until then, should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local CA Account Manager or Support Availability Manager.

CA Insight™ DPM for Distributed Databases r11.2.1 Now Integrates With CA eHealth®
CA Insight DPM for Distributed Databases helps customers meet service availability goals by understanding and managing database performance. With CA Insight r11.2.1, important database performance intelligence is delivered to the CA eHealth solution. By sharing performance information across networks, systems and databases, proactive actions can be taken; problem resolution time is reduced, availability to the business is restored and service level agreements can be met.

  • CA eHealth customers can prioritize and isolate trouble spots (network, systems or databases) before they impact the business. Other integration enhancements with CA Insight include:
    • Oracle and SQL Server database AIMS replaced with new support that includes Oracle 10g, SQL Server 2005 and Sybase.
    • Faster problem isolation with new metric inclusions, including the Database Quality Index.
  • CA Insight customers can maintain high performing databases for overall IT performance goals and improved problem resolution. Other integration enhancements with CA eHealth include:
    • New performance reports as well as custom performance reporting capabilities
This release also delivers additional integration benefits to current CA Unicenter® NSM 11.0 and 11.1 customers:
  • A new Proxy Agent for Sybase in addition to existing SQL Server, Oracle and DB2 for LUW. Sybase database information now appears within CA Unicenter NSM visualization and is selectable for custom scoreboard creation.

CA ERwin® Modeling Suite 4.1.4 Service Pack 5
The last Service Pack for the CA ERwin® Modeling Suite 4.1.4 series was recently released. Information can be found on SupportConnectSM. Go to the CA ERwin Modeling Suite Product Home Page, select the product you want (for instance, CA ERwin® Data Modeler) on the Technical Information section, go to the Solutions and Patches section and then click on Latest Download for ERwin Data Modeler. Product Line Community - Modeling
The Product Line Community (PLC) is a global virtual CA customer community that is focused on our Modeling solutions. The PLC provides a forum for bilateral communication between CA and users of CA solutions - enhancing the users' experience while leveraging CA Technology. The PLC model is to act as an umbrella community, over the local user groups, to ensure all CA Modeling users have equal access to all organizations within CA (including Development, Product Management, etc.). Along with quarterly web casts with CA and a Listserv available, we will be establishing a forum for PLC members as well as other activities exclusive to the PLC-Modeling community.

CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 and IMS Tools Service Pack Buckets
CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 and IMS Tools, Service Pack Buckets Service Pack, Preventive Maintenance and Preventive Service Planning buckets, are now available for the DB2 and IMS tools!

The Service Pack Bucket contains all PTFs that have been released as part of a Service Pack. It provides a quick and easy way to download full Service Packs from our support website, eliminating the need to order physical tapes as new maintenance releases are made available. The Preventive Maintenance Bucket contains all PTFs that have been generated since the last Service Pack was released. The Preventive Service Planning (PSP) bucket containing hiper PTFs, and PTFs resolving PE PTFs, is also still available.

The DB2 Service Pack, Preventive Maintenance, and PSP buckets are located on the Unicenter® DB2 Products for DB2 for z/OS support page at supportconnectw.ca.com/public/db2/db2_supp.asp. The IMS Service Pack, Preventive Maintenance and PSP buckets are located on the Unicenter® IMS Utilities Solutions Pack support page at supportconnectw.ca.com/public/ims/ims_supp.asp. On each support page, choose the "Detailed Service Pack Information" link under the "Solutions & Patches" heading, then choose from the links under the "PTFs since Last Service Pack" or "Service Pack Download" headings.

Important Changes to the CA DB2 Display Services
The initial feedback from the r11.5 user community has been favorable with regard to our strategy for supporting long object names. As a result of broad, world-wide adoption of the r11.5 release, we have received a great deal of feedback regarding our display services and have received some suggestions for improvement of these services. We are currently working on implementing some of these improvements and plan on having these available as a PTF after our next service pack. For the full article, please visit:
