Product Tips for CA Database Management Solutions for DB2 for z/OS
Product Tip: CA Detector® for DB2 for z/OS - In the Detector Program Activity Reporting screen, why are two rows displayed on the Package / DBRM Summary screen; one as a PROC type and the other as a PKGE type when Detector reports on stored procedures?

Product Tip: CA Detector for DB2 for z/OS - When attempting to view SQL Text related to a table by using the 'Q' option on the Detector Table SQL Activity Display panel, the Detector Exception SQL User summary screen sometimes displays instead of the SQL itself. supportconnect.ca.com/sc/redir.jsp?reqPage=search&searchID=QI91754

Product Tip: CA Detector for DB2 for z/OS - What contributes to the amount of data being collected in a Detector datastore for Activity collection?
supportconnect.ca.com/sc/redir.jsp?reqPage=search&searchID=QI91756

Product Tip: CA Detector for DB2 for z/OS - Would changing the Detector collection interval time length reduce the demand for external datastore space or increase the allocation requirements?
supportconnect.ca.com/sc/redir.jsp?reqPage=search&searchID=QI91757

Product Tip: CA Detector for DB2 for z/OS - Does Detector support VSAM Extended Addressability for the collection datastore VSAM datasets?

Product Tips for CA ERwin® Modeling Suite
A common request made by CA ERwin® Data Modeler users is for a way to easily synchronize their foreign key indexes with their constraints. The purpose of this document is to explain how to use the CA ERwin Data Modeler API to do that as well as to serve as an introduction to using the API. This document will use a sample that can also be used to sync Foreign Key (FK) indexes and constraint names.
supportconnect.ca.com/sc/redir.jsp?reqPage=search&searchID=TEC436179

The SQL and View Trace utilities in CA ERwin® Data Modeler r7 are helpful in troubleshooting permissions and privilege errors, and in improving the performance of CA Reverse Engineer or Complete Compare operations. This document uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as an example but the principles are the same for all supported databases.

Important Changes to the CA DB2 Display Services
The initial feedback from the r11.5 user community has been favorable with regard to our strategy for supporting long object names. As a result of broad, world-wide adoption of the r11.5 release, we have received a great deal of feedback regarding our display services and have received some suggestions for improvement of these services. We are currently working on implementing some of these improvements and plan on having these available as a PTF after our next service pack. For the full article, please visit:

CA is committed to providing the highest level of quality in our products and services. Since soliciting customers' opinions is key to satisfying their real needs, we are currently conducting a survey to help us plan how our products will continue to leverage IBM's DB2 9 for z/OS.

This latest version offers considerable changes and many new features - but which are most important to you? In other words, which features or improvements provide the added value that will cause you to move to DB2 9?

Please take the online survey regarding selected DB2 9 features at www.casurveys.com/wsb.dll/56/db2_9.htm. Note that this survey does not comprise a definitive list of new features, but rather concentrates on those items new to DB2 9 that may have an impact on tools development.
