Unicenter® Database Management Distributed Database Tools

Unicenter® Database Management r11.2 Beta Invitation Letter
Dear Valued Customer,

CA is pleased to announce that our Unicenter Database Management solution team has started registration to enroll beta customers to test CA's next generation of database management as part of our EITM strategy.

Unicenter Database Management r11.2 is a browser-based multi-database management solution that unifies and simplifies the management of different Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). A consistent look and feel helps Database Administrators (DBAs) manage different databases with increased productivity, and helps reduce RDBMS complexity and management costs.

Some of the exciting new capabilities this beta release include:

  • Multi-Database Administration Support - updated support for SQL Server 2005. Unicenter Database Management r11.2 supports databases from multiple vendors on multiple platforms via a single product, eliminating the need to install, learn, and invest in multiple tools specific to each database type. Databases supported in this release are SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 UDB for Linux, UNIX, Windows, DB2 UDB for z/OS, and Ingres.

  • Agentless and Agent-Based Database Monitoring and Performance Management Capabilities. From the new Unicenter® Database Command Center browser-based interface introduced in r11.1, you can now plug in the ability to monitor and manage performance management of SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 UDB for Linux, UNIX, Windows, and Sybase databases. New database agent architecture enables Unicenter® NSM customers greater database support, in-depth database performance analysis, and ability to perform database administration and enable advanced management functionality without installing NSM as a prerequisite. Unicenter® Database Performance Management customers will find a new interface easier to pinpoint problems and added scan coverage for SQL Server 2000 and 2005 databases.

  • Fast Unloading for SQL Server. This release adds support for SQL Server databases to Unicenter® Fast Unload®. It provides the ability to unload data from SQL Server tables and offers the ability to schedule data unload jobs on any server in the enterprise.

  • Reorganization for SQL Server and DB2 UDB for LUW. This release adds support for SQL Server and DB2 UDB for LUW databases to Unicenter® TSreorg™. The object reorganization functionality improves the efficiency of databases by restructuring objects that have become fragmented due to data inserts, updates, and deletions.

  • Advanced Multi-Database Administration. This release adds advanced database administration capabilities that reduce complex alterations, repetitive database maintenance, comparison, and refresh tasks. Create once and then schedule too many different databases, remotely executes updates to multiple databases in one job instead of individually.
A complete listing of all the features can be found in the documentation directory located on the beta distribution CD.

We would encourage you to enroll early to participate in the testing of Unicenter Database Management r11.2 and experience its many benefits.

To learn about the systems requirements and to register to participate in the BETA program, please go to: supportconnectw.ca.com/public/beta/udbm112/udbm112beta.asp.

Your participation in programs such as this enables CA to deliver market leading solutions of the highest quality. The Unicenter Database Management Solutions team looks forward to your input and participation.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Unicenter Database Management Team

Product Tips for Unicenter® Database Management Distributed Database Tools
Product Tip: The licensing under AllFusion® ERwin® Data Modeler r7.x is different than its predecessor r4.1.4. The licensing mechanism is not part of the install, but when you launch r7.x, it verifies whether or not the application is licensed, and if it is not, it prompts you to license the product before it can finish launching. This document demonstrates the new licensing process.
