CA Simplifies Product Names
Beginning January 30, 2007, CA is simplifying its product names. Our intention is to describe our products by what they enable you and your business to accomplish. Some names have already changed; others will change over the next 12-18 months as part of the planned development cycle. There is nothing you need to do. We have established a dedicated site at ca.com/productnames as a resource center where you'll find additional information such as frequently asked questions, customer service numbers, and a list of current product names and former names.

Product Tips for AllFusion® Modeling Solutions
Product Tip: The ability to set the naming standards is one of the most highly used features of CA ERwin® Data Modeler (CAEDM). Using the built-in glossary with the Naming Standards Mapping (NSM) allows users to have the desired physical names. However, in v. 4.1.4, the NSM worked across the entire model impacting each and every name within its scope and there was no way to apply the naming convention selectively. There was also no way to 'harden' the logical names so they became near-permanent. With the advent of CAEDM r7.2, the new functionality of Name 'Hardening' provides a way to override inheritance (hardening) of names and blocks name changes or name resets within a model. This document should help in understanding the Name Hardening Wizard to use this functionality.

Product Tip: CA ERwin Data Modeler: Comparison of Table Level and Model Level Script Usage td {font-size:11px;}
The r7.2 CA ERwin Data Modeler Pre and Post Script editors allow a user to create text that can expand at the table-level or the model level. Specifying Model or Table level defines where the script will expand. This document covers the various script editors and explains the different behaviors of the CA ERwin Data Modeler macros within these editors.

Important Changes to the CA DB2 Display Services
The initial feedback from the r11.5 user community has been favorable with regard to our strategy for supporting long object names. As a result of broad, world-wide adoption of the r11.5 release, we have received a great deal of feedback regarding our display services and have received some suggestions for improvement of these services. We are currently working on implementing some of these improvements and plan on having these available as a PTF after our next service pack. For the full article, please visit:

CA ERwin® Data Modeling Suite r7.2 Patch Release 1
On behalf of CA, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly announce and deliver updated releases and maintenance for our products and we are implementing a "Patch Release" mechanism for customers on the r7 series.

Patch Releases will be cumulative maintenance and made available every 6-8 weeks and will be subject to a subset of the full QA regression test case suite. This subset will exercise all major areas of product functionality and additional tests will be selected based on the specific issues being resolved for the Patch Release. This approach optimizes the joint goals of providing timely support and a high quality product. All maintenance delivered in patches will be brought forward to the subsequent GA Release.

Be sure to check the Solutions and Patches section or Announcements link on the Product Home Page on SupportConnectSM at supportconnect.ca.com or our new online support system, CA Support Online, at support.ca.com for news of new releases. This month, CA ERwin Data Modeling Suite Patch Release 1 was released. If you have any questions on the new Patch Release, please be sure to Contact Us at CA Technical Support.
