CA Simplifies Product Names
Beginning January 30, 2007, CA is simplifying its product names. Our intention is to describe our products by what they enable you and your business to accomplish. Some names have already changed; others will change over the next 12-18 months as part of the planned development cycle. There is nothing you need to do. We have established a dedicated site at ca.com/productnames as a resource center where you'll find additional information such as frequently asked questions, customer service numbers, and a list of current product names and former names.

AllFusion® Endevor® Change Manager Option for DB2 UDB for z/OS

Information Regarding New Release
If you are a customer of the Endevor® option for DB2, then this is the news you have been waiting for. A new release of this option is currently undergoing the final stages of development and will be entering beta testing soon.

This new release marks a significant change from earlier releases - by using the DB2 object management engine of CA's RC/Migrator® and RC/Compare™ products. This will mean that future development efforts in support of new versions of DB2 can be concentrated in one area.

The most important change for you, the customer, is that the latest Endevor option for DB2 will support ALL IBM supported versions of DB2 for z/OS as of December 2006.

If you are interested in knowing more about this exciting new development, please contact me directly (phil.grainger@ca.com) or, if you have an interest in possibly joining the beta program, then please drop a line to Mohan Kumar (mohan.kumar@ca.com).

Product Tips for AllFusion® Modeling Solutions
Product Tip: Traditionally, AllFusion® ERwin® Data Modeler created a Foreign Key index when a database, that had a Foreign Key constraint but not a Foreign Key (FK) index, was Reverse Engineered. Although in the Index editor for the Reverse Engineered model AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler marked the Foreign Key constraint as 'not generated', that can cause some confusion when a Complete Compare (CC) is performed in r7. This document explains and clarifies why the r7 CC Resolve Differences screen may seem to show you what at first appears to be unexpected results with regards to missing FK indexes on the database side of the comparison, but what is in fact actually quite normal, and how that may be handled.
supportconnect.ca.com/sc/redir.jsp?reqPage=search&searchID=TEC419837

Product Tip: AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler 7.x ships with improved documentation on how to use the 7.x APIs. The ERwin_API_Ref.pdf in your product's C:\Program Files\CA\AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler r7\Doc folder provides a wealth of information. Still, many customers find it useful to see actual examples. AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler / Model Manager r7.x API examples are now available in the Data Exchange Information Center on SupportConnectSM at supportconnectw.ca.com/premium/erwin/infodocs/af-deic.asp. Click the link "SAMPLES - API - R7" to download a WinZip file containing these samples and a Microsoft Word document that describes their usage.
