CA Teleview™ – Do You Know
Do you know that you can write your own SMF record from the CA Teleview shut exit, which is called before CA Teleview writes its shutdown record?

Further, you can run the VJSYS (Defined Application Control Block) chain anchored in VSHRVARS in the exit to collect application statistics like the following:

  • MAX RU SIZE SENT TO SYSTEM
  • MAX RU SIZE RECEIVED FROM SYSTEM
  • AVERAGE RU SIZE SENT TO SYSTEM (VJTOTBYS/VFTOTSTO)
  • AVERAGE RU SIZE RVCD FROM SYSM (VJTOTBYR/VFTOTRFR)
  • TOTAL BYTES SENT TO SYSTEM
  • TOTAL BYTES RECEIVED FROM SYSTEM
  • TOTAL RU'S SENT TO SYSTEM
  • TOTAL RU'S RECEIVED FROM SYSTEM

You must obtain your own storage to perform any processes including writing the SMF record via SMF interface services like SMFWTM. See IBM's z/OS MVS System Management Facilities (SMF) manual for detail information on SMF including information on SMF macros.

Standard linkage must be used by the shutdown exit (VSHX) and there is no VZWA work area presented to the exit, since it is not a terminal/user based exit. These activities will extend the shutdown processes.
