Custom Maps and the Upgrade Process:

Repository/MVS provides a fully extensible,
customizable Metamodel and command interface
to facilitate an organization’s metadata
requirements. However, when you upgrade your
repository, you are responsible for applying
any changes that were made to CA supplied maps.

For example, you have created a map 9204 to
replace the supplied map 204. As a part of
the upgrade process, attribute XYZ is added
to map 204. This will be noted in the PIB
packet. You are responsible for adding
attribute XYZ to your map 9204 and doing a
PROCESS.RECREATE to add the appropriate new
column to the underlying table. You should
do this before you perform the upgrade. If
you fail to do so, you may receive unexpected
errors.

What Map Am I In?

If you are in an Entity, Relationship, or
Association and you want to know what map
is behind it or what the entity type is,
just type V.C. (for VIEW.CURRMAP) on the
command line. Hit enter and the map ID
and entity type will be displayed.

The Q Factor:

If you execute a PR/MVS command that brings
back search results, such as VLE, you may
get back something like:

****************************************

MESSAGE EDT00012
Too many entities matched the specified criteria.
Only the first 999 are displayed.

****************************************

There are two ways to limit the results:

The most common is to specify the Name, Status,
or Version in the appropriate field.

The other is to put a Q after the command, as
VLE Q. This will bring up the SQL SEARCH
CRITERIA window. It will allow you to limit
your query by specifying values for any
attribute. For example, you could specify
only elements with a Data Type of CHAR or
only Programs with a Language of PL/I.
Chapter 6 of the User Guide explains the use
of the SQL SEARCH CRITERIA window. Once you
have filled in your search criteria, just hit
F3 (or PF03) to execute.

The Q Parm can be used with the following
commands:

EDIT.COPY.ALL
EDIT.COPY.OTHER
EDIT.COPY.RELATED
EDIT.COPY.TEXT
EDIT.SPECIAL.REPLACE
VIEW.LIST.ENTITY
VIEW.LIST.SOURCE
VIEW.LIST.TARGET

EDIT.SPECIAL.MERGE brings up the SQL SEARCH
CRITERIA panel automatically with one criterion
in it. You should not change that one since
it prevents merging an object into itself, but
you may add other criteria.
