CA Dispatch™ r11 is Now GA
CA is pleased to announce the release of CA Dispatch r11 SP0. CA Dispatch is an online, interactive report distribution management system designed to reduce paper consumption and increase efficiency of report distribution. You can limit report printing to the pages requested by the end user, and group smaller reports into bundles according to class, destination, or both.

The following is a list of the new features and highlights of this release:

  • CADDSPL Replaces ENFSPL - CADDSPL is a new component of CA Dispatch that replaces ENFSPL and incorporates all of its related functionality into the base product. CADDSPL also supports up to 32 CADDSPL address spaces per system, effectively increasing the number of CA Dispatch address spaces to 32 on each LPAR.

  • ENF Event Services - The VCSS common component has been completely replaced by the ENF Event Services. This enables CA Dispatch to eliminate the use of JES exits for this purpose, and captures report information using less CPU consumption and overhead.

  • Multiple Distribution Tasks - CA Dispatch increases the internal distribution tasks, or RPI, from 1 to 3. Three different class and destination selections permit distribution of the reports based on your criteria. This enables each RPI to process a unique set of reports, with each task having its own start and end command.

  • Multiple Archive Tasks - CA Dispatch increases the number of archive tasks from 1 to 3. This gives CA Dispatch the processing power to keep up with a more demanding archive workload. You can start or stop each task independently.

  • SAPI Exploitation - CADDSPL replaces the FSS Printer ENFFSS with a new SAPI (SYSOUT Application Programming Interface) interface task. This new SAPI interface task is responsible for processing all user non-intercepted input reports and MSGCLASS data from the JES Spool. Another new SAPI task lets CADDSPL reduce its sensitivity to JES version or release level. Reduced JES-dependent code provides greater flexibility, scalability, and reliability.

  • SMF Chargeback - Several enhancements for user resource utilization tracking have been made. They include Online Viewing and Archive resource utilization, Online Viewing access audit tracking, and SMF Type-6 processing for multi-pass reports, along with new SMF type-6 fields.

  • Batch Maintenance Jobs - The administrator can now perform system maintenance on CA Dispatch without having to stop subtasks such as RPI, RPO, MSG, STATUS, and Archive, so your business can run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Bundle Reprint - This feature makes re-creating and reprinting a bundle as simple as reprinting a report from the archive. Bundle Reprint uses the current Bundle Status information and re-creates the bundle using reports that reside in the Online Viewing database, in the archive, or both.

  • Bundle Manipulation - New bundle manipulation tools have been added to increase user productivity. These productivity tools include a new time of day bundle release flag and a bundle spin-off command.

  • CA Service Desk Interface - Sites running CA Service Desk can have CA Dispatch automatically open CA Unicenter® Service Management tickets for unexpected product abends within the CADDSPL component. This immediately recorded event notification lets you quickly identify causes and address problems within the system operations that can delay critical report processing.

  • Productivity Tools - Several new online productivity tools have been added to increase user productivity. Template features for the Report/Recipient and Sysgen User ID screens let administrators easily add new definitions based on existing definitions. Also, the new Extract Priority feature lets you reorder extract requests as needed.

We also encourage you to visit the CA Dispatch product home page at ca.com/us/products/product.aspx?ID=1250 to read more about it in the CA Dispatch Product Brief.

CA Output Management Web Viewer r11 SP0 is Now GA
CA Output Management Web Viewer r11 SP0, which is now GA, offers a single web-based point of access to all enterprise documents. Users can view documents stored in any CA Enterprise Report Management report repository (including CA View®, CA Dispatch™, and
CA Bundl®). Regardless of the hardware, users can immediately access their documents from their web browser.

The following is a list of the new features and highlights of this release:

  • Host-Based Annotations - Using the new annotation feature, users can record important information for each report by annotating from their web browser. This is a secure facility that can be used for collaboration or self-record keeping.

  • Current Report Version - Users can find the most current version of their reports much faster with this feature. Prior report versions are also easily found using familiar web controls.

  • Change MODE and Distribution - CA View users can now change their mode and distribution ID from the web browser.

  • Text-to-PDF Conversion - Text reports can be converted to PDF documents for viewing, download, or emailing. Converting to PDF retains all printer control formatting, ensuring that the report will print correctly on any printer.

  • AFP-to-PDF Conversion - With this option, AFP reports can be viewed as PDF, reducing the cost associated with managing specialized software at many locations.

  • Export to Spreadsheet - Ad hoc reporting from information created from legacy mainframe applications has become a major business need. Ensuring that this information is transformed correctly is even more important. OM Web Viewer r11 provides an easy-to-use GUI to define the fields and type of data to be extracted into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

  • Upload Files to an Archive Repository - Together with CA Spool™ or CA LPD, users can upload associated type files (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, tiff, PDF, and so on) into CA View or CA Dispatch from their web browser. This provides report retention, secured access control, and reduced storage and network overhead. These files can then be viewed through the OM Web Viewer and an associated viewer.

  • Audit Logging of Each Action - As end users perform actions on reports, these activities are recorded in log files that can be imported into other applications for reporting purposes. This is also useful for chargebacks.

  • Scalable Thread Pool - Requests now use a pool concept, so the system is much more responsive and can scale to handle many more users.

  • Web Statistics - The administrator can see much more information about the state of the Web Viewer system such as user status, folder status, and the thread pool.

  • Highlight Unread Reports - Users can now easily find new reports as now they show up in their lists as bold.

  • User Comments - A CA View user may now modify user comments for a report from the web browser.
