Product News

CA Simplifies Product Names
Beginning January 30, 2007, CA is simplifying its product names. Our intention is to describe our products by what they enable you and your business to accomplish. Some names have already changed; others will change over the next 12-18 months as part of the planned development cycle. There is nothing you need to do. We have established a dedicated site at ca.com/productnames as a resource center where you'll find additional information such as frequently asked questions, customer service numbers, and a list of current product names and former names.

Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Sharing r11.5 SP1 for z/OS - Now Generally Available (GA)
Unicenter CA-MIM Resource Sharing r11.5 Service Pack 1 for z/OS is generally available (GA). This service pack includes all maintenance published prior to this update. Installation of this service pack ensures that your systems are current on maintenance for Unicenter CA-MIM for z/OS. When you are ready to receive this update, submit the order form on the product page at SupportConnectSM or call 1-800-637-5858. For customers outside North America, please contact your local Technical Support Group.

Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Sharing r11.5 for z/VM - Now Generally Available (GA)
Unicenter CA-MIM Resource Sharing r11.5 for z/VM became generally available (GA) in December and includes the following features:

  • Product installation and service support using IBM's VMSES/E
  • Latest support of z/VM operating systems from IBM
  • The ability to integrate with CA products running on z/OS, including Unicenter®
    CA-OPS/MVS® Event Management and Automation or Unicenter® CA-SYSVIEW® Realtime Performance Monitor

Also note that support for r4.6 will be discontinued December 31, 2007. We strongly urge you to take advantage of the new Unicenter CA-MIM Resource Sharing r11.5 for z/VM by upgrading at your earliest convenience.

Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Sharing - Hyper APAR Notification
Are you keeping track of the latest Unicenter CA-MIM Resource Sharing (Unicenter CA-MIM) Hyper APARs?

To locate and download Unicenter CA-MIM hyper fixes, log on to SupportConnectSM, go to "Published Solutions," choose product "Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Sharing - MVS" or "Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Sharing - VM," check the "Hyper Solutions Only" box and click "Search." You will be presented with a list of all generally available hyper solutions, which you can optionally download and install to your MIMplex.

If you are not automatically receiving email notifications about new Unicenter CA-MIM hyper fixes, you can register for this free service at SupportConnect and customize your Hyper Subscriptions profile.

Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Sharing - IBM APAR Technical Advisory
Since 1998, the Unicenter CA-MIM Resource Sharing (Unicenter CA-MIM) product team has managed and distributed an informational solution that lists IBM APARs, addressing problems with z/OS components and subsystems. The problems associated with these IBM APARs have impacted the operation of the Unicenter CA-MIM product somewhat.

Unicenter CA-MIM 4.6 Informational Solution 26, APAR QI63101, is updated regularly and distributed electronically to customers who have customized their profiles to receive Unicenter CA-MIM hyper solution notifications.

The Unicenter CA-MIM product team updates this informational solution as it identifies IBM APARs that resolve problems which have impacted the operation of the product in some way. We recommend that all our customers review this informational solution when it is distributed and apply the appropriate IBM APARs to their mainframe environments. The IBM APAR information contained in this solution needs your attention in order to avoid known problems.

RSU Information
We have recently completed certification of Unicenter® CA-MIM™ Resource Management for z/OS with the z/OS 1.8 and z/OS 1.7 December 2006 RSU Level (0612). The z/OS 1.8 and the z/OS 1.7 RSU certifications were achieved with MIM r11.5 Service Pack 0 and MIM 4.6 Service Pack 5.
