Become a Network Management Superstar With the CA NetMaster®
for TCP/IP Handbook
Are you having no time to read manuals cover to cover, needing a quick-start guide to power through your network management challenges, or wondering what more you could do to improve network service-level agreements (SLAs)?

Written by the people who build the product, the CA NetMaster for TCP/IP Handbook is designed for both the novice and the experienced network administrator; anyone with network challenges can very quickly find the command or tool they need. The chapters are organized by use case and business challenge. For example, Chapter 12 is entitled "Best Practices for IP Node Monitoring," and Chapter 24 is entitled "Can't Connect to An Application." This is a powerful tool from which you can get value every day. These best practices were crafted by people who have spent their careers managing networks; learn from the best.

First up is "Who should use this handbook and how," which gets you going. But experienced users will start with the table of contents; you will probably find that CA NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP has features and capabilities you need, but have not realized that they are available to you. This is not a replacement for your product manuals and guides; it is more a quick-reference tool designed to help you manage your network efficiently and effectively.

Finding Compatibility Information for Your Products
Have you ever wondered how to check whether your release of CA NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP needs maintenance fixes before being brought up on a new release of the operating system?

You can find what you need on CA Support Online.

The CA Product Compatibilities page enables you to search through VM, VSE, and z/OS operating systems for the product of your choice.

To check for maintenance fixes for CA Mainframe Network Management products

  1. On CA Support Online, click the Compatibilities link on the left side of the screen to display the CA Product Compatibilities page.
  2. Click the z/OS Compatibility link.
  3. Click the Network Management and Session Management link to display a table of products.
  4. Peruse the table, find the product and release that you are currently running, and click the applicable solution.

This presents the associated compatibility and support information for the product, which indicates whether any fixes are required when upgrading the operating system.

Video Library Now Available for CA NetMaster® Network Management for TCP/IP
Are you relatively new to the product and need help navigating through the panels? Do you ever have situations where you cannot remember a command or how to locate a screen that you do not often use? Is there an area of the product that you are simply not familiar with?

To learn new tricks, help refresh your memory, and explore different areas of the product, we now have a video library that will help you. he library is designed to contain short, easy to follow videos that explore various topics in all areas of the product. We have started with CA NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP and will be branching out over time.

The first videos available explore some of the basics: commands, shortcuts, activity log, and Resource Monitor. The first three are for the most part applicable to any product in the NetMaster suite.

Each video is short, from three to ten minutes, with a very specific topic, so you can home in on what you need to know and use the information immediately.

We will be adding to this library over time, and welcome your feedback and suggestions regarding what you would find useful.

The goal is to have video groupings that intertwine, so a short overview in one video may direct you to another video, technical document, or other written documentation for more in-depth information on a given topic.

To access the videos:

  1. On CA Support Online, click the Support by Product or Solution link on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select Unicenter NetMaster Network Management for TCP/IP.
  3. Under Recommended Reading, click NetMaster Video and Recorded Webcast Index to list the videos.
