Unicenter® Universal Job Management Agent r3.1 Now Available
We are pleased to announce that the Unicenter Universal Job Management Agent r3.1 is generally available (GA). If you are using an earlier version and are current on maintenance, you can order r3.1 or download the latest release from ca.com/supportconnect. In addition, if you are current on maintenance for Unicenter® CA-Scheduler® Job Management Distributed Agent, Unicenter® CA-Jobtrac® Job Management Distributed Agent, or Unicenter® CA-7® Job Management Distributed Agent, you are entitled to receive this release at no additional cost. Please call 1-800-637-5858 to receive the upgrade. For customers outside North America, contact your local CA office.

Some of the enhancements and new features added to this release of the Unicenter Universal Job Management Agent are included in the following list:
  • Distribution of the full Event Agent (for UNIX and Linux customers)
  • Failover support with High Availability Server
  • Optional CA Event Notification Facility (CAENF) support

Unicenter AutoSys Job Management Adapter for Oracle Warehouse Builder r1 enables process flows created in Oracle Warehouse Builder to be directly deployed to Unicenter AutoSys Job Management. This solution helps companies deliver on their goal of seamless business process automation across heterogeneous computing environments and provides the following additional benefits:
  • Enables centralized control of job scheduling
  • Offers job dependencies across Oracle and non-Oracle applications
  • Simplifies job management for Oracle environments
  • Enables customers to keep and extend their current Unicenter AutoSys Job Management installations to their Oracle-based data warehouse installations
Additionally, the Unicenter AutoSys Job Management Adapter for Oracle Warehouse Builder becomes increasingly important as Oracle continues to integrate business intelligence into the backbone of its applications. By offering an adapter for Oracle Warehouse Builder and related applications, CA is able to provide more comprehensive support for Oracle customers.

Unicenter Job Management Adapter for Oracle Applications provides cross-application, cross-platform scheduling for Oracle Application jobs. Featuring Universal Adapter technology, it lets you schedule the start of Oracle Concurrent Programs, monitor job progress, record Oracle Application phases and statuses, or stop jobs using the sophisticated and reliable job scheduling capabilities of any CA distributed or mainframe job management engine. In addition, you can incorporate Oracle Application jobs into any other work flow for efficient management.

In addition, this release of Unicenter CA-7 Job Management emphasizes enhancements to product usability, scalability, and management abilities. Unicenter® Job Management Distributed Agents and Unicenter® Universal Job Management Agent Drop Support Information
We are continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. To effectively support the latest computing environments and those of the future, we continually evaluate our products to determine their strategic direction. To focus our development and support efforts on our most strategic business tools, we have decided to drop support for Unicenter® CA-7® Job Management Distributed Agent, Unicenter®
CA-Jobtrac® Job Management Distributed Agent, Unicenter® CA-Scheduler® Job Management Distributed Agent, and Unicenter® Universal Job Management Agent for OpenVMS and Linux z/Series.

Unicenter® Network and Systems Management Job Management Option r3.1 0403 agent is now certified on the following operating environments:
  • SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9.0 Intel (kernel 2.6.5-7.97)
  • AIX 5.3 32-bit and 64-bit (with CAENF support)

Unicenter® Network and Systems Management Job Management Option r3.0 0305 agent is now certified on Linux Itanium IA-64 Red Hat 3.0 Enterprise AS (kernel 2.4.21-4.EL). Please contact Customer Support to obtain the required fixes.

Unicenter® AutoSys® Job Management Adapter for Peoplesoft r2.1.0 is now certified on AIX 5.2 for Peoplesoft version 8.4. No fixes are required.

Unicenter® Universal Job Management Agent r3.1 is now certified on AIX 5.3 with CAENF. Please contact Customer Support to obtain the required fixes.

Unicenter® AutoSys® Job Management r4 Remote Agent (jobs only) is now certified on AIX 5.3 (32 and 64 bit) for Oracle and Sybase. No fixes are required.

General Information
Tracking External Jobs with Unicenter® CA-Scheduler® Job Management r9.1
Every site has z/OS batch jobs that must be tracked like a production job but are submitted by something other than the job management product. For example, a payroll job stream in Unicenter CA-Scheduler may need to wait on a job that is submitted by a CICS transaction when the HR department has finished entering overtime hours.

Unicenter CA-Scheduler has always had the ability to track jobs submitted outside of Unicenter CA-Scheduler by using the $MVS table.
