If you are still using eSupport, we encourage you to move to SupportConnectSM by December 6, 2004. SupportConnect offers easy access to the latest product support information and software updates on the web-through access to online knowledge bases and forums, software downloads, issue management options, and other self-service features. If you have an enterprise eSupport user account, you can convert it to SupportConnect by using the conversion link at the bottom of the SupportConnect home page.

eSupport users with Basic accounts should fill out the New User enrollment form using the link in the SupportConnect login box. You will be emailed an activation link in a matter of minutes.

Advantage™ OpenROAD® 3.5 DBI Driver to Advantage™ Enterprise Access
Conversion Issues
Migrating to Advantage OpenROAD 4.x and Advantage Enterprise Access from Advantage OpenROAD 3.5 DBI Drivers offers significant advantages, such as a common SQL syntax and additional DBMS access, and significant Advantage OpenROAD improvements/features such as eClient (web deployment of applications). This article attempts to address the known issues with the conversion process, but is not an all-inclusive list of conversion issues that may be encountered. Fatal Gateway Connection Errors With Big User Volume
When more concurrent gateway connections are needed, in theory, increasing the inbound limit value to set the maximum connect sessions provides the needed connections. However, with a big user volume, you may encounter Windows resource issues even if your machine has plenty of memory available. This article describes the symptoms and causes of the problem, and recommends solutions.

Ingres® Million Dollar Challenge
In August, CA announced the Ingres Million Dollar Challenge, an unprecedented offer to the open source community to develop toolkits for Ingres r3. Under terms of the offer, open source developers are invited to create solutions that enable users of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase Adaptive Enterprise Server, IBM DB2 Universal Database, Informix, and/or MySQL to migrate to the Ingres r3 database platform. Qualifying solutions will be eligible for cash awards of up to $400,000, with a total purse of $1 million. Full details of The Challenge eligibility and the official rules are available at ca.com/ingres/challenge.

Submissions to the Ingres Million Dollar Challenge will be accepted until February 1, 2005.
