BrightStor® Enterprise Backup v10.5 and the Agent for Advantage™ Ingres®
on Solaris
BrightStor Enterprise Backup (BrightStor EB) v10.5 is now available! BrightStor EB v10.5 is an enterprise-class backup/recovery product with rock-solid reliability, exciting new functionality, improved ease-of-use, and a reputation for offering the highest performance recovery and backup operations in the industry. As part of the "Enhanced Agents" beta program, the agent for Advantage Ingres on Solaris is immediately available for testing. Advantage™ OpenROAD® eClient CAB Generator – Demo Pack 7
Advantage OpenROAD 4.1 Service Pack 2 introduced the "eClient" Runtime, which provides the ability to deploy Advantage OpenROAD applications through Microsoft Internet Explorer and run them in the browser. To package your Advantage OpenROAD application for distribution through a web server, you must create (and optionally digitally sign) your own CAB file containing the appropriate Advantage OpenROAD application images and the required installation files provided in Service Pack 2. The Advantage OpenROAD eClient CAB Generator (MakeCAB) utility provides a simple, graphical interface that can automatically package your OpenROAD applications in CAB format and can generate the basic HTML pages required to deploy your application.

Licensing Advantage™ Ingres® Clients
Some weeks ago, we hosted a webcast that explained in detail how the new licensing mechanism works. If you were unable to take part in the original webcast, a replay is available at www.placeware.com/cc/cai/A?id=McGrattan-6/3&pw=761913. The new CA Licensing Version 2 (which replaces LicenseIT) is applicable to Ingres II 2.0 and 2.5, and Advantage Ingres 2.6 and beyond.

Using Advantage™ Ingres® on 64-bit Processors
You may have noticed if you received a boxed version of Advantage Ingres Enterprise Relational Database recently that there appears to be more than one release for some of the platforms, most notably Solaris, HP-UX (PA-RISC), and AIX. What may not have been apparent is that these additional releases represent the 64-bit version of the product for those platforms. This article describes what is contained in these releases and gives a short background to 64-bit processing and why you might want to use it. It also describes the Advantage Ingres approach to releasing 64-bit capable product and the reason for multiple releases of the product for some platforms.
