CA Dynamic Provisioning Manager (CA DPM) Beta – Register Now!
CA DPM is a policy-based product that automatically monitors, configures, and provisions resources to meet the load demands of complex and business-driven datacenter infrastructures. It extends software provisioning capabilities by combining software delivery, configuration change management, and adds server resource provisioning - enabling server provisioning. This product integrates with CA Unicenter® Software Delivery r11.2 and leverages its software distribution and operating system installation management capabilities to quickly and securely configure and/or provision a machine from bare metal. CA DPM greatly improves the agility of your server provisioning process.

CA is pleased to announce the general availability of Unicenter Asset Intelligence r11.2, the latest release of intelligence for effective decision support. Unicenter Asset Intelligence (UAI) automatically converts raw asset data from CA Solutions, such as Unicenter® Asset Management, Unicenter® Service Desk, and Unicenter® Asset Portfolio Management into actionable intelligence so you can quickly and easily make informed business decisions about your IT environment. Unicenter® Patch Management Delta Content Coverage Expanded
The CA Content Research Team is pleased to announce the publication of Delta Content for October (v0710). Delta Content coverage has been expanded to accommodate Microsoft Windows XP installations in the following languages in addition to English:

  • German
  • Italian
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Finnish
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Japanese
The Windows XP Post SP2 DELTA Security Rollup Packages are special Unicenter Patch Management patches designed to install critical security patches released during the current month. Unlike the existing Windows XP Post SP2 FULL Security Rollup Packages, the DELTA packages do not include ALL of the critical security patches ever released for the operating system.

The DELTA packages are designed to be used in conjunction with the FULL Packages, in order to reduce network traffic while providing administrators with an efficient policy-based approach to patch management.

To incorporate the DELTA packages, administrators must create a custom Unicenter Patch Management policy, with the initial policy patch designated to be the most recent FULL package.

As DELTA packages are released each month, the custom policy should be revised to include them, so that all outstanding patches will automatically be deployed to all eligible targets. This eliminates the need for re-distribution of any redundant contents of the FULL packages released each month, and limits the number of reboots required during package install.

NOTE: The Windows XP Post SP2 DELTA Security Rollup Packages are only available for use with Unicenter Patch Management version r11.2.

Unicenter® Asset Management r4.0 AppDef Revision 73
The Unicenter Asset Management Content Team is pleased to announce AppDef Revision 73, scheduled for October 31, 2007.

In order to import the current revision to Asset Management r4.0, it is mandatory for Administrators to (1) apply Cumulative Fix QO81414 to all Asset Management Console nodes, and (2) perform the Software Normalization procedures posted on SupportConnectSM. Direct access to the links referenced above may be routed through the SupportConnect login page if a session is not previously authenticated.

NOTE: This bulletin is only applicable to Asset Management r4.0 installations, whereas the Asset Management component of Desktop and Server Management r11.x installations will download the content automatically through the Software Content Download Job based on its configuration.

LightScan for HP-UX
The Unicenter® Asset Management Content Team is pleased to announce the publication of LightScan for HP-UX.

The LightScan tool is an utility used to harvest software detection criteria that is used in Software Asset Management signature content.

LightScan is currently available for the following platforms:
