IMPORTANT: In order to import the current revision to r4.0, the following two criteria must be met:

• Apply Unicenter Asset Management Console Cumulative Fix QO65962.
  It is mandatory for Administrators to apply Cumulative Fix QO65962 to all Asset Management Console nodes in order to accommodate the volume of this revision, which exceeds the capacity of currently un-patched installations. Refer to Cumulative Fix QO65962 documentation.
• Perform Software Normalization Procedures.
  It is mandatory for Administrators that have not already upgraded beyond AppDef Release 30 to perform the Software Normalization procedures in order to most effectively integrate the current revision with existing signature data. Refer to the instructions for the required Software Normalization procedures.

Unicenter® Patch Management Security Roll-up Package Update
The CA Content Team would like to announce a change to the naming convention for the monthly Microsoft Security Roll-up packages. The new convention will better represent package version, language, chipset and bit support, and reduce character length while retaining readability.

The breakdown of the improved convention is as follows:

CA - <OS> Post SP<#> <lang> <32Bit|64Bit> <ChipSet> <DELTA|FULL> Security Rollup
v<YYMM.##>

e.g., CA - Windows XP Post SP1 EN 32Bit x86 - FULL Security Rollup v0608.01

The convention change will have no impact on the current functionality of the monthly releases, but will provide for a smooth transition for added functionality to be incorporated into the program in the months to come.

Unicenter® Patch Management Update Addressing Microsoft Security Re-Release
To accommodate recent Microsoft Security issues, the CA Content Team has released modified versions of components of the August (0608) release of Unicenter Patch Management's Microsoft Security Roll-up packages.

Microsoft recently announced the re-release of Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-042 to address an issue affecting Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 customers as discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 923762. Users running Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on computers running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP1) or Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (SP4) have experienced unexpected program exits from Internet Explorer while viewing a Web site that uses the HTTP 1.1 protocol and compression, after installing the cumulative security update. The update also creates a vulnerability, leaving systems susceptible to remote code execution.

Unicenter Patch Management users that have already rolled out the August (0608) release of Unicenter Patch Management's Microsoft Security Roll-ups to affect operating systems should refer to the Microsoft Security Advisory at: www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/923762.mspx for instructions and updated downloads.
