CA Simplifies Product Names
Beginning January 30, 2007, CA is simplifying its product names. Our intention is to describe our products by what they enable you and your business to accomplish. Some names have already changed; others will change over the next 12-18 months as part of the planned development cycle. There is nothing you need to do. We have established a dedicated site at ca.com/productnames as a resource center where you'll find additional information such as frequently asked questions, customer service numbers, and a list of current product names and former names.

As part of a comprehensive long-term program to improve the way we provide you with support, we're pleased to let you know we'll debut a new CA Technical Support site at
CA WORLD®. This new site, built from the ground up with Customer input and suggestions, provides the foundation for a number of current and future improvements.

Unicenter® Patch Management April Content Update
The CA Content Research Team is pleased to announce that the April (v0704) release of Unicenter Patch Management's Microsoft security roll-up packages is available.

The roll-up packages feature the following April security bulletins:

Visit the Unicenter Patch Management Information Center for up-to-date information. Refer to the UPM Release Notes for the list of all Microsoft patches that are included in the current Roll-up Package.

Unicenter® Asset Management r4.0 AppDef Revision 67
The Unicenter Asset Management Content Team is pleased to announce AppDef Revision 67, scheduled for April 30, 2007.

In order to import the current revision to Asset Management r4.0, it is mandatory for Administrators to (1) apply Cumulative Fix QO81414 to all Asset Management Console nodes, and (2) perform the Software Normalization procedures posted on SupportConnectSM. Direct access to the links referenced above may be routed through the SupportConnect login page if a session is not previously authenticated.

NOTE: This bulletin is only applicable to Asset Management r4.0 installations, whereas the Asset Management component of Desktop and Server Management r11.x installations will download the content automatically through the Software Content Download Job based on its configuration.

CA Product Line Communities
CA supports many Product Line Communities (PLC) that focus on a variety of CA products and solutions as well as specific platforms and technologies. The PLC's provide a forum for active and ongoing communication between customers, development, and support.

Benefits of belonging to a CA PLC include:

  • Access to a listserv/customer forum for exchanging information, experiences, and best practices
  • Ability to voice business issues with peers - including industry standards, government regulations, and/or other trends
  • Access to the PLC website for access to product line information
  • Increasing the technical advantage of your organization
  • Discovering new ways to leverage CA solutions, increase access to product knowledge, and improve user experience
  • Providing an excellent entry point for new users
Communication with CA - the PLCs assist in providing feedback to CA to ensure that solutions align with specific IT and business challenges by:
  • Conducting regular webcast presentations from CA development discussing current product releases and road maps
  • Prioritizing and voting on selected product enhancements
  • Participating in technical discussion listservs and forums
  • Voicing issues, concerns, and suggestions regarding product direction - to assist in guiding the future of CA solution offerings
PLC membership is open to all customers who are actively using CA solutions. CA currently has several communities that may be of interest to you: Look for CA PLC events and activities at CA WORLD® 2007 including in-person meetings amongst members and CA. More information can be found in the session listings on the
CA WORLD 2007 website. Registered PLC members can receive a $200 discount when signing up to attend!
