CA Client Management Solutions Non-Resident Inventory
CA is pleased to announce the availability of an additional inventory collection option for CA Client Management Solutions through the addition of the Non-Resident Inventory (NRI) capability.

CA Client Management Solutions provide administrators with a simple automated mechanism for inventorying and managing devices on an enterprise network through a process of discovery and agent deployment. The provisioning of an installed agent onto the discovered devices allows for ongoing centralized management and control of the devices.

The Non-Resident Inventory option complements the current functionality by providing enterprise administrators with the capability to inventory their networks without making any permanent impact to the devices inventoried. NRI provides an Elective solution where end users are directed to use a Web page to collect inventory for their system. Also supported is a Managed solution where the enterprise administrator initiates an inventory collection through logon scripts.

This first release of NRI is designed to work on top of Client Management Solutions r11.2 C1. For more information and to obtain this added capability, please contact CA Support.

CA Desktop Migration Manager r12 Open for Beta Testing
CA Desktop Migration Manager (formerly known as Unicenter Desktop DNA) is a scalable migration solution for the management, movement and maintenance of a PC's system state, which includes user settings, preferences and data.

CA Desktop Migration Manager's (DMM) effective management provides the foundation for efficient IT change management initiatives, including:

  • Hardware refresh
  • PC replacement
  • Moving desktop and laptop users from NT domains to Active Directory (AD)
  • Windows deployments
  • Operating system (OS) upgrades
  • Data migration
  • Disaster recovery

CA DMM, as the premier scalable migration solution for the management and maintenance of a PC's system state, will continue to provide reliable functionality that will support the latest enterprise software desktop operating system platforms to ensure clients will be able to meet their unique desktop migration needs.

What's New in r12

  • Merger and Acquisition Tool: Supports a merger and acquisition tool allowing the migration of users to different user profiles on the same machine. This provides a company the ability to ensure newly acquired employees are moved into the existing domain structure from their old domain and ensures they have access to the new company's mail system and other functions.
  • Encryption: Supports the option to encrypt migration files and real-time migrations.
  • Disk-to-Disk Migration: Provides the ability to migrate directly to or from an alternate drive (e.g., a mapped drive) when an operating system is not up and running.
  • Selective Printer Migration: Provides the ability to select which printers to include in the migration, whether they are network or local printers.
  • IPv6 Support
  • Support FIPS 140-2: Support of FIPS 140-2 will protect sensitive data using security functions that are certified compliant to the FIPS 140-2 encryption standard.
  • Windows x64 support: Certify support of migrations on Windows x64 platforms.
