Introducing New Names for the
Testing and Fault Management Tools

As we continue to advance and expand our industry-leading portfolio of eBusiness solutions, we at CA recognize that in addition to maintaining the highest standards of software quality, reliability, and usability, we also have to keep our product lines simple and focused. We want to take a moment to explain the exciting transition we are undertaking. We have introduced several brand families. Those new names will be incorporated into all CA product names going forward.

Our branding strategy is intended to keep our solutions of high quality and focused on meeting your business challenges. CA will continue to provide comprehensive solutions in both Enterprise Management and Information Management and our products will be grouped as follows:

Enterprise Management:

  • Unicenter®, recognized as the industry standard, will remain the world’s premier family of infrastructure management solutions
  • BrightStor™ is CA’s brand of comprehensive, high-value storage management solutions
  • eTrust™ continues as the brand name for the award-winning, bulletproof security that makes CA the leading supplier of security software solutions safeguarding business-critical resources across the enterprise
Information Management:
  • CleverPath™ is the brand name for CA’s unique portal, business intelligence, predictive analysis and visualization solutions
  • AllFusion™ is the brand name for CA’s family of comprehensive solutions for modeling and life cycle management
  • Advantage™ is CA’s family of leading application development, enterprise reporting and industrial strength databases as well as the services needed to rapidly integrate applications, databases, and business partner systems
  • Jasmine® is the family for CA’s object-oriented solutions

As a result, you will see a whole new set of expanded names that more specifically define each product.

Many in this audience are intimately comfortable with the names for the entire TestIT family. But as the role, functionality, and prospective user audience for the Testing and Fault Management tools grows in today’s burgeoning eBusiness climate, it is important to make certain that the products are clearly named so as to remove all questions as to the exact useful purpose for each product.

As further public recognition grows of our new brand name - Advantage™ - we will benefit from this increased public exposure. And this, we know, is important to all of our thousands of active user sites.

We are committed to offering you high-quality, comprehensive business solutions and are just as committed to ensuring that we keep this process as smooth as possible. The following list provides both the former familiar name and the new product names. You will see how clear the new names are and should have no difficulty in bridging from the former names to the new.

Although all of CA’s marketing materials will reflect these new brand names, technical documentation will continue to reflect the familiar names until the next major release and the new documentation that accompanies it.

Immediate Support for the IBM CICS
Transaction Server for z/OS Version 2 Release 2

On January 25, 2002, CA announced immediate availability of an extensive range of eBusiness management solutions designed to support implementation of IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 2 Release 2. This announcement coincides with the general availability of this widely used mainframe transaction processor.

The Testing and Fault Management matrix shows the general status of the applicable Testing and Fault Management tools.

Additionally, Advantage CA-InterTest for CICS and Advantage CA-SymDump for CICS customers upgrading to IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 2 Release 2 will require Release 6.1 of Advantage CA-InterTest for CICS and Advantage CA-SymDump for CICS which is currently in beta status.

General Availability News

We are pleased to announce the General Availability of the following product releases:

Advantage CA-Optimizer/II (MVS) Release 3.0
Advantage CA-SymDump Batch Release 2.0
Advantage CA-InterTest Batch Release 3.0
Advantage CA-File Master Release 2.5

Customers current on maintenance for the above products will receive a three-part Order Form in the mail or you may contact technical support to place an order for product shipment.
