CA Portal r12 (formerly CleverPath™ Portal) Beta Invitation Letter
CA is pleased to invite you to participate in the CA Portal r12 Beta Program scheduled to begin in February 2006. This program was previously announced under the name CleverPath Portal r12 in July 2005.

If you were already accepted in the CleverPath Portal r12 Beta Program, you do not need to register again; your information has been carried forward to the CA Portal r12 Beta Program.

CleverPath™ Portal r4.7 Cross-scripting Vulnerability Fixed
CA technical support recently sent out a hyper notification to alert customers that CleverPath Portal has a browser security risk that could allow specially crafted JavaScript to be executed from the Portal login page. Such JavaScript could change the functionality of the login page and pass information to an external site. To remove this vulnerability, please see Hyper Solution QI70871 on SupportConnectSM.

CA Message Queuing Component Vulnerabilities Fixed for Three CleverPath™ Products
CA Message Queuing (CAM) patches are now available to address several security vulnerabilities, including:

  • A potential buffer overflow exploit
  • A possible denial of service attack
  • A spoof CAFT file transfer that can execute arbitrary commands with elevated privileges

These vulnerabilities exist in all prior releases of CAM, including r1.05, r1.07, and r1.11. They exist on all operating systems supported by CAM.

Three CleverPath products use the CA Message Queuing Component (CAM). They are:

  • CleverPath™ Predictive Analysis Server (CPAS) r3.0
  • CleverPath™ OLAP r5.1
  • CleverPath™ Enterprise Content Manager r3.5

To ensure your systems operate safely and securely, please make sure you are running the most current release of the CA Message Queuing component in your environment. The minimum safe build depends on the release you are running and is detailed in this CA Message Queuing Security Notice.

CA strongly recommends application of the CA Message Queuing patch appropriate to your environment.

Advantage™ Data Transformer Daylight Saving Time Reminder
During this time of year, many countries and most states in the United States, change their clocks for the beginning or the end of daylight saving time (DST). When such a DST transition takes place, some customers prefer that Advantage Data Transformer run their transformation scripts based on their local time rather than Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is the default behavior. These customers should review technical note TEC298354, which explains how this functionality works and provides important considerations to consider prior to deployment.

To have Advantage Data Transformer r2.1 automatically adjust scheduled script times for DST, you must apply SP1.

CleverPath™ Reporter r4.2 SP1 Now Available
The Computer Associates Technical Support team is pleased to announce that CleverPath Reporter r4.2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is now available for download. This service pack provides current maintenance for CleverPath Reporter r4.2 installations as well as significant additions to the functionality of CleverPath Reporter r4.2, including:

  • Support for Secure Socket Layer (SSL) publishing to CleverPath™ Portal
  • Support for Ingres® r3
  • Output improvements for Microsoft Excel

Advantage™ Data Transformer r2.2 Is Now Available
Advantage Data Transformer is a powerful data transformation, replication and integration tool featuring a flexible, easy-to-use and comprehensive application development environment. Its graphical Mapper enables organizations to:

  • Define simple and complex data movement tasks
  • Join data from multiple sources
  • Cleanse data
  • Synthesize new data
  • Synchronize two or more databases on mixed platforms

Advantage Data Transformer r2.2 adds several exciting new features to this robust tool. The top four are:

  • Use of XML as a source or target, which allows transformation from hierarchical XML to relational tables and vice versa
  • Support for invoking a transformation program as a web service
  • Availability of the Advantage Data Transformer data movement server on Linux – Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux
  • Support for large objects in IBM DB2 UDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle

CleverPath™ Aion® r10.1 is Now Available
CleverPath Aion r10.1 is now available for electronic download and will be generally available soon on DVD. Customers active on maintenance may download DVD images of CleverPath Aion r10.1 from the Product Downloads area of SupportConnectSM. For detailed download information, please refer to Solution QI64488 on SupportConnect.

CleverPath Aion r10.1 offers comprehensive business rules and business process management, optimizing business efficiency and automation. It delivers unmatched benefits of productivity, flexibility, integration, and automation. Aion r10.1 adds significant enhancements to the industry leading CleverPath™ Aion® Business Rules Expert (CleverPath Aion BRE) product and to a new, separately licensed product – CleverPath™ Aion® Business Process Manager (CleverPath Aion BPM).

CleverPath Aion BPM offers process optimization through an open, integrated package that includes:

  • A robust workflow engine that supports human-to-human, system-to-human, and system-to-system activities
  • Business rules management for business audience

CleverPath™ Portal - How to Upload Files Greater Than 300MB via WebDAV
CleverPath Portal users may experience the following error when attempting to upload files to Content Management larger than 300MB via WebDAV:

Error occurred copying some or all selected files.

This problem can be corrected by changing the MaxMultipartFieldSize field in the cpcmconfig.properties file located in [PORTAL_INSTALL_DIR]\properties:

MaxMultipartFieldSize="314572800"

By default, the MaxMultipartFieldSize field is set to 300MB, as shown, but the field can be changed to match your business needs. To change it, use this formula to convert from megabytes to bytes, the expected unit:

[FILE_SIZE_LIMIT] * 1048576 (1MB)
For Example: 500 * 1048576 = 524288000 (500MB)

Your change takes effect once you restart CleverPath Portal.

CleverPath™ Forest & Trees® - Substitution Variables in View/Trigger Formulae
When using substitution variables in CleverPath Forest & Trees View/Trigger formulae, it is important to recognize when the substitution is performed. For example, if a formula or function modifies a substitution variable, the result will not be seen within the scope of that formula execution because the substitution will have already occurred before the change. This Technical Document (Document ID TEC371936) discusses the topic and provides some examples of this concept.

CleverPath™ Reporter - Accessing Data from Multiple Ingres Databases
Each CleverPath Reporter report is usually designed to access data from a single Ingres® r3 database. This Technical Document (Document ID TEC372030) discusses the use of Ingres/Star with CleverPath Reporter and how you can exploit this combination to access multiple Ingres databases from the same report.

CleverPath™ Aion® Business Rules Expert - Embedded Debugger Source Window Display Problems
The Embedded Debugger feature of CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert (CleverPath Aion BRE) Release 9.5 may have problems when debugging a large in-process COM application for an extended period of time. The source window may show these symptoms:

  • Disappearance of the current statement arrow
  • Erroneous display of breakpoint indicators

In addition, once these symptoms begin to occur, continued use of the debugger may cause it to crash. For a published fix, please see Solution QO66957 available on SupportConnectSM.

CleverPath™ Aion® Business Rules Expert - Library Lookup Performance Patch for AIX Now Available
The CA Technical Support team has recently published a patch for CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert (CleverPath Aion BRE) that results in a significant performance improvement for Aion applications running on the AIX operating system. The patch allows such applications to use a more efficient lookup method for Aion library names, which results in considerable reductions in processing time.

Advantage™ Data Transformer - How to do Convenient Server Maintenance
Advantage Data Transformer (Advantage DT) stores its internal data tables in one of several relational databases management systems (RDBMSes). Proper RDBMS maintenance requires regular backups, and these backups often require taking the RDBMS off line for data integrity and speed. While the RDBMS is unavailable, internal tables in Advantage DT are also unavailable, and Transformer cannot run its scheduled scripts.

Since backups are non-negotiable, Advantage DT administrators must manage RDBMS table resource needs accordingly. To allow ADT to work in harmony with RDBMS administration, Technical Support has documented straightforward best practices. To implement them at your site, see Technical Document TEC354586.
