Evolution of AllFusion® Gen z/OS Runtime
The AllFusion Gen z/OS runtimes have evolved to keep pace with new features and capabilities introduced for the mainframe platform. The runtime changes were introduced in AllFusion Gen r7 and completed in AllFusion Gen r7.5. Migration from earlier releases of AllFusion Gen to either AllFusion Gen r7 or AllFusion Gen r7.5 may require regeneration of existing applications and consideration of different linking strategies. The AllFusion Gen z/OS Runtime Evolution paper discusses both the reasons for and benefits of these changes, as well as their implications for existing z/OS generated applications.

Assimilating Physical Files Into Your Model
Using the YRTVPFMDL command lets you retrieve one, several, or all OS/400 physical files into your AllFusion® 2E Model. A Knowledge Base article provides information about the retrievals.

AllFusion® Change and Configuration Management Suite

AllFusion® Harvest Change Manager r7.1 is GA
The AllFusion Harvest Change Manager product team recently announced the general availability (GA) of AllFusion Harvest Change Manager (AllFusion Harvest) r7.1. For features and highlights of this release, read the AllFusion Harvest r7.1 Data Sheet.

To obtain the update to this release, choose one of the following methods of ordering:

Download your copy of AllFusion Harvest r7 using SupportConnect^SM.
Place your order by submitting an AllFusion Harvest r7.1 online order form located on the AllFusion Harvest SupportConnect product home page.
Call the CA Orders Department at 1-800-841-8743.
Contact your local Customer Services Representative.

For customers outside North America, contact your local CA Support Center to determine general availability of this new maintenance release.

AllFusion® CA-PanAPT® and AllFusion® CA-PanAPT® Option for DB2 r3.1
Service Pack 2 are GA
The AllFusion CA-PanAPT product team recently announced the general availability (GA) of AllFusion CA-PanAPT and AllFusion CA-PanAPT Option for DB2 r3.1 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

To obtain the update to this release, choose one of the following methods of ordering:

Download AllFusion CA-PanAPT and AllFusion CA-PanAPT Option for DB2 r3.1 SP2 using SupportConnect^SM.
Call the CA Orders Department at 1-800-841-8743.

For customers outside North America, contact your local CA Support Center to determine this new service pack general availability.

Installing PEC to a Microsoft Windows XP SP2 System With PATH Longer
Than 1024 Characters
When installing AllFusion® Harvest Change Manager r5.2.1 or r7 on a Microsoft Windows XP SP2 system, the Platinum Enterprise Communicator (PEC) install fails if the length of the existing PATH environment variable on the target system is near or over 1024 bytes in length. A Knowledge Base article describes how to check for this failure and describes the workaround to address it.

AllFusion® Harvest Change Manager AIX Requirements
The requirements described below are to run AllFusion Harvest Change Manager (AllFusion Harvest) on IBM AIX platforms. The requirements differ depending on whether you run AllFusion Harvest applications or build applications that use the AllFusion® Harvest Software Development Kit.

AllFusion Harvest r7.1 and r7.0 for IBM AIX platforms require the IBM AIX XL C/C++ 7.0 Runtime libraries. These libraries are currently available for free download from IBM's website. The IBM AIX 7.0 Runtime libraries are backward compatible with applications built with AIX 4.3.3 and later using the XLC 3.x compiler. To determine the current C/C++ runtime on your system, enter the following command:

lslpp -l | grep -i xlc

If you are using the AllFusion Harvest Software Development Kit to create applications on AIX, the IBM XL C/C++ 7.0 compiler is required. To determine the current version of the installed compiler, enter the following command:

strings $(whence xlC) | grep -i version
