General Information
CA ARCserve® r12 for Windows - Microsoft Exchange Server - Document Level Browse and Backup Does Not Work With MS Exchange Server 2007 Installed on Windows 2008
The Document Level icon will not expand in the CA ARCserve Backup UI. The specific error produced depends on the build of Client and Collaboration Data Objects software used:

With MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 (version 06.05.7974) installed: and/or Document Level backup fails with AE9611 followed by AE9603.

With MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 (version 8022.0) installed: E8535 Failed to receive data from the client agent. (EC=10060, COMMAND=0) followed by W2245 Unable to enumerate Exchange Storage Groups.

NOTE: The "AE9611 Fail to initialize MAPI unable to continue message related operations" and "AE9603 File list is empty" problems will occur with MS Exchange 2007 installed on Windows 2008 and Messaging API (MAPI) Client and Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) 1.2.1 (06.05.7974) installed. This version of Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and CDO 1.2.1 package is incompatible with Windows 2008. This is a known Microsoft incompatibility.

After updating the Messaging API (MAPI) Client and Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) to version 8022.0 (compatible with Windows 2008), the error changes to "E8535 Failed to receive data from the client agent. (EC=10060, COMMAND=0)" followed by "W2245 Unable to enumerate Exchange Storage Groups". This is a known ARCserve r12.0 issue. This error will be corrected by the upcoming ARCserve r12 SP1 release.

The Exchange 2007 Document Level Agent is not supported on Windows 2008 with ARCserve r12.0 build 5454. Only the Database Level Agent is supported on these systems.

ARCserve r12 SP1 will resolve the problem with the MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 (version 8022.0). As a workaround, an alternate recovery method for individual mailboxes is to restore Mailbox Database (Database level) sessions to the Recovery Storage Group with the "Restore selected mailboxes to live database from Recovery Storage Group" option enabled.

For more information on how to use this restore feature, please see page 59 in "Database Level Restore Options" section in the Agent for Microsoft Exchange Guide.

CA ARCserve® r11.5 for UNIX/LINUX - Missed Files Message in BrightStor.log and uag.log Files After Backup Completes
Description:
After the backup completes, this message appears in the log files:
Total # missed files: 3
Solution:
example uag.log file:
12/13 01:15:57(3012) - Skip file system /var/run
12/13 01:15:58(3012) - 117 files 29598.49 KB written to I1T @ 36998.12 KB/min
12/13 01:15:58(3012) - Total # missed files: 3

No filenames are shown. Backup completed normally.

A filesystem on the server has been removed, recreated or modified. The BAB backup job needs to be updated to reflect the change(s).

To do this, go to the browser GUI Job Status window. Highlight the affected backup job and click the Modify button.

In the Source tab, check that the desired filesystems, directories and files are selected for backup. Check the other tabs to verify the desired destination, type of backup and other options. Resubmit the backup job.
