Important Support Notice for CA XOsoft r12 Customers
Customers running CA XOsoft Replication r12 or CA XOsoft High Availability r12 build 153 or build 155 must install a fix to avoid a problem with the CA XOsoft control service which currently prevents the service from restarting after a server restart.

Customers running CA XOsoft r12 build 155 should only install the patch found here:
support.ca.com/phpdocs/0/5878/ws_man.155n.Zip.

Customers running CA XOsoft r12 build 153 will need to upgrade to the new build 155a that is currently posted on: www.xosoft.com/download/index-cust.shtml.

Note: Customers already running CA XOsoft r12 build 155 should install the patch and not the full 155a build. You can determine what version of the CA XOsoft Control Service you are running by going to the Help menu in the CA XOsoft Manager and choosing the "About..." option. The build will be displayed in the format of "Version: 5.0.1.153", where the final number represents the build number.

To avoid this problem, customers should install the patch or upgrade to the new build before their next system reboot or restart of the CA XOsoft Replication or CA XOsoft High Availability products. CA XOsoft r12 products now support "zero reboot" upgrades so the changes should be easy to perform without requiring planned downtime.

Security Notice for CA ARCserve® Backup for Laptops and Desktops Server and
CA Desktop Management Suite
CA's customer support is alerting customers to security risks in CA ARCserve Backup for Laptops and Desktops Server. Multiple vulnerabilities exist that can allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service condition. CA has issued updates to address the vulnerabilities.

In most cases, an attacker can potentially gain complete control of an affected installation. Additionally, only a server installation of BrightStor® ARCserve® Backup for Laptops and Desktops is affected. The client installation is not affected.

CA has provided updates to address the vulnerabilities.

End of Life Announcement for CA ARCserve® Backup for Laptops and Desktops
r11.1 and r11.5 (formerly known as BrightStor® ARCserve® Backup for Laptops and
Desktops)
To better serve our customers, CA is continually working to improve our software and services. In order to focus our development efforts and to help our customer base achieve their strategic business initiatives, we are investing our resources in new technology and software and are discontinuing development efforts and support for CA ARCserve Backup for Laptops and Desktops (formerly known as BrightStor ARCserve Backup for Laptops and Desktops).

Effective immediately, no subscriptions or maintenance will be available for purchase or renewal. CA ARCserve Backup for Laptops and Desktops will no longer be enhanced and maintenance and technical support will be discontinued on March 31, 2009. However, CA will honor any contractual requirements to sustain support on defined products.
