Single Antivirus Engine Project Update

Dear Valued eTrust Customer:

The CA project to move to a single antivirus engine is progressing well. However, we have heard from a number of our customers requesting additional time to prepare for their rollout of the single antivirus engine. As a result, we have decided to move the release date to no sooner than Tuesday, January 30, 2007; we will provide you a confirmation of the release date shortly. We appreciate your support in this project; some background on this project is as follows:

CA is embarking on a strategy to take eTrust Antivirus and CA Integrated Threat Management protection to the next level. You will no longer need to choose which technology to use; we have combined them to give you the best of each engine in one. This decision is the first step in our strategy to bring you the most advanced and comprehensive protection in the industry.

Very shortly, signature updates for prior releases of eTrust Antivirus will be released and deployed through the automated engine update process, bringing those installations in line with the new technology. Effective with this change, CA will only produce signature and engine updates for the eTrust Antivirus single engine. This change will not affect the eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware Corporate Edition r5/r8 engine used in eTrust PestPatrol CE or CA Integrated Threat Management.  In March, the new releases of CA Integrated Threat Management and eTrust Antivirus will ship using this single antivirus engine.  eTrust Secure Content Manager will also be part of this change.

Please contact us if you have any questions.
