Important Notice for UNIX Users

Prior to installing BrightStor Enterprise Backup for UNIX,
please review this document carefully.

Release Notes

The detailed installation instructions can be found on the installation CD in the following path:

<mountpoint>/readme/beb/readbeb.txt

This document should be read thoroughly prior to beginning the installation of BrightStor EB. The information includes:

Pre-installation steps
Installation steps

Initial usage (starting/stopping BrightStor EB as well as checking status)
Accessing the User Interface

System Requirements:

In addition to the requirements outlined in the Release Notes, the following are required:

Minimum 256 MB RAM
Minimum 350 MB Hard Disk space on the /opt filesystem (or the primary filesystem where BrightStor EB will be installed)
Minimum 80 MB Hard Disk space free on the /var/tmp filesystem (during the installation process)
Minimum 300 MB Total Swap space free (during the installation process)

Note: Minimum hard disk requirements do not include space available for running the BrightStor database. Minimum RAM requirements do not account for other Third Party applications running on the same server.

Kernel Parameters and Environment Variables Requirements:

Prior to installation, ensure that you have set and enabled the kernel parameters as defined in the readbeb.txt document. If necessary for your environment, make sure that your machine has been restarted.
