Downloading Updates for eTrust Products via IP Address is Not Supported

Please do not use fixed IP addresses for downloading updates from CA. CA switched our hosting vendor for our Antivirus, PestPatrol, Integrated Threat Management and Secure Content Management update servers from one vendor to another in November. This was transparent to customers who use the product as supported because the supported URLs for those updates use full domain paths such as etrustdownloads.ca.com to retrieve those updates and those supported paths switched over to the new vendor site automatically.

We have monitored the logs from the old site and we are still seeing downloads on those old servers. This would only occur for those customers using a fixed IP address to download rather than a supported domain URL. If customers who are using fixed IP addresses do not take action to change the update path in their CA products, they will no longer receive updates after December 20, 2006.

CA does not support downloading updates with a fixed IP address because our hosting servers are load balanced and optimized to switch to an available server as needed and there is no guarantee any specific IP address will be available at any given time. Here is information on the supported domain name URLs for the relevant eTrust threat management product signatures and updates:

Please use full domain names/URLs for downloading eTrust Integrated Threat Management, Antivirus, PestPatrol Anti-Spyware, and eTrust Secure Content Manager updates.
